Everyone can benefit from having a trusting relationship and receiving validation. From that basis, in a non-judgmental interaction people can begin to get clarity on their wants and needs. From enhancing self-esteem to setting boundaries and resolving anxiety/depression people can change.

I offer an evidence based trauma treatment called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) which can be helpful when individuals feel stuck in areas of their lives.
Your life is an ongoing journey and it's time to make yourself a priority. Are you not living the life you dreamed of? Or do you often feel frustrated that your relationships, home life, and career are less than satisfying? Have you ever wondered what is stopping you from feeling happier, more confident, and in control of your future? We live in a society so busy that we can barely hear ourselves think. Its rare that anyone feels truly heard and listened to. I can help you to learn to lead a more authentic, self-actualizing life that works for you. Perhaps you're looking to take steps towards healing, but are unsure where to start.

I am also trained in DBT/CBT, EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and mindfulness-based interventions and will incorporate these methods into our work together, shall we both find them useful.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and owner of Harbor Fields Psychology. I challenge the idea that mental health should be measured by mood, as mood is fluid and often varies moment to moment. Rather, I measure mental wellness by whether you live with meaning and purpose and linearly to your own beliefs and values. My approach to psychotherapy is attuned, reflective, and collaborative. I perceive the therapeutic alliance as the foundation to creating a deeper, more forgiving, and compassionate relationship to yourself and living a more integrated life.

I offer a compassionate, collaborative approach and provide EMDR to help process difficult experiences and recurring patterns at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
Many people move through pregnancy, postpartum, and major life transitions feeling like they are barely holding it together. On the outside you may seem capable and put together, but inside you might feel anxious, drained, or disconnected from yourself. I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and the emotional weight of motherhood, relationships, and major life changes. You do not need a polished story or the right words to start. This is a space to show up as you are, be seen without judgment, and find ways to feel more like yourself again.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
