Is your relationship needing communication support to reignite the spark or expand what the sexual spark can be? Are you feeling uncertain about your needs in the context of your relationship?
Whether you are navigating changing interests in physical intimacy, exploring kink, or experiencing changes due to health issues, you don't have to figure it out alone.
Intimacy challenges often create unintentional distance and silence, but they can also serve as an invitation to rebuild. To do that, we need to start with knowing ourselves and express our needs and wants clearly.

Over the past 35 years, I've had the privilege of working with individuals in a multitude of environments from residential facilities to outpatient community mental health clinics. My experience has taught me the importance of respecting one's humanity through the use of a compassionate, nonjudgemental, and supportive approach. It is my firm belief that we all have the capacity for change. There is an inherent resilient nature within us that can be strengthened and utilized to achieve goals. My practice is directed toward empowering individuals to build on their strengths. I value "seeing the person and not the diagnosis".

If you live with anxiety, depression, or struggle with grief you may be used to pushing through your days while feeling tense, overwhelmed, or stuck in your own thoughts. On the outside, you might appear capable and composed, while internally your mind feels busy, your body feels on edge, or it’s hard to fully relax.
In therapy, we will slow things down. We will create a safe space to understand what your mind is trying to communicate and learn ways to respond to it with more ease and compassion. The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety, depression or grief, but to help it feel more manageable so it no longer runs your life.

You've got it together...mostly. You're a rock star at your job, you're amazing to your partner, and you love the heck out of your kids, so why does the little voice in your head STILL say "Not good enough"? You do ALL the things for everyone who needs you (because you definitely feel guilty if you don't), and on the days you're overwhelmed and running on fumes? You'll continue to push through, because saying "no" feels like letting someone down. You can't remember the last time you did something for yourself, since "self-care" sounds like selfish and "burn out" is something you passed miles ago.

I believe that change happens when we feel safe, seen, heard, and validated. Clients usually discuss concerns about Anxiety, Depression, stressful life events or traumatic events, betrayal or affairs, and conflicts in relationships. My clients have many skills, talents, strengths, and are very hardworking! Sometimes my clients say things like "I feel stuck" or "I've tried everything and it feels like nothing has worked". When someone feels stuck, or like "nothing has worked", this can lead to feeling frustrated, confused, or hopeless. In therapy, we work together to create small changes and heal past hurt that is lingering.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
