I have been in the helping profession for the majority of my adult life . Through the years, I have learned that we all face challenges from time to time that can confuse and overwhelm the best of us. Sometimes it just takes a different voice, a different perspective and the understanding of another to help clear the path to self fulfillment.

If you are seeking therapy it means you are wise enough to know you can do something about your problems and brave enough to try. For each person therapy is a unique collaboration. While I use my training in psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, cognitive behavioral treatment, and family therapy as guidance, success depends on paying careful attention to a client's personal history, life situation, and current goals. While the past shapes us and is always with us, your "here and now" issues are the focus, as we emphasize and reinforce your strengths while also addressing problems.

I believe that everyone has the ability to lead a satisfying and productive life , and that it's never too late to start. We all also have the capacity to get "stuck" in unproductive situations or relationships. The key ingredients for a successful outcome in therapy are the individual's, couple's, or family's readiness for change, and the safe, supportive, collaborative relationship we develop. My deepest interest lies in helping clients recognize their own needs, goals, strengths, under-utilized talents, and decision-making capacity. With the clarity they obtain, I can help them take some necessary steps to improve their lives.

Learn to use your words to take charge of your life .
As men, many of us have been taught to hold in our feelings… often leading to pent-up anger… too much drinking… acts of rage. We have been taught that talking about feelings is a sign of weakness. In his book, MEN’s LIVES, about the history of fishermen on Long Island’s East End, Peter Matthiessen quotes a young man in 1929, “ … no one could have a happier moment … than to be asked to be one of the boat crew by a captain you had always admired …the honor soon became a reality… the achin, achin of every muscle….. I must endure without a word.”

I believe the key to a successful therapeutic experience is the relationship between the therapist and the client. With this in mind, I understand the importance of showing non-judgemental compassion and respect for every person who asks for my help. My work with individuals is focused on finding change and building a foundation on which they can confidently manage life ’s challenges and live a healthier life . My work with couples and families helps them find strategies to diffuse conflict and learn to communicate more effectively.

I am also a certified Spriitual Director for those who would like to explore and discuss their spiritual/religious/faith life .
Are you stuck? In a relationship? With an addiction? In a job? If yes, read on. Mindfulness. Intention. Contemplation. Higher Power. Detachment. Co-dependency. What do these mean? What role do they play in helping people with "problems in living"? I think they are essential practices, together with psychotherapy, which can produce transformative thinking and behavior e.g., they can help people get "unstuck" from their dilemma. If interested in exploring these ways of "knowing", please contact me.

Therapy is education. Are you looking for more balance in your life ? Are you unsettled about your place in the changing world?? Almost everyone is. If you want a safe space to talk about and learn from what you’re grappling with, you have found it at Hampton Ed-Space I have been a psychotherapist and a teacher for 35+ years. I believe that learning is ongoing and livelong. My work as a therapist and as a teacher is grounded in the belief that therapy, like school, is only meaningful and transformational when the setting is right for you. Education should not be about shame … nor should therapy.

My therapeutic approach focuses on my belief that when it comes to an individual’s life , they are the expert. As a therapist, it is my job to be expert on theory and techniques, to assist client's in realizing their own capabilities of deciding where they want to go, and I encourage the strengths within themselves to pursue wherever that is and to identity what that will take to get there. First, however, I must address the level of resistance a client shows. My treatment heavily looks at aspects of internalization, pulls from psychoanalytic theories of neurosis, specifically signal anxiety, and focuses on realizing personal agency.

If you're affected by daily stresses of life , significant issues related to depression, anxiety or interpersonal relationships, I am a New York licensed psychologist and certified psychoanalyst that will help you resolve these problems. Clients gain insight into what's troubling them so that they can manage their issues more effectively. I work in an intimate setting, situated in a comfortable environment overlooking a private garden. It is a safe and confidential space. I work with people who are having difficulty developing and or maintaining significant relationships, experiencing depression, anxiety, low self esteem, feelings of being unlovable, or "just getting by" rather than thriving.

Common to all my work is a combination of humor and empathy, to work on building greater self-understanding/self-acceptance in order to take control of her/his life .
I offer couples counseling and individual psychotherapy, and use a great deal of humor and compassion in my work. I work psychoanalytically (seeking unconscious motivations) and cognitively, looking at present issues and challenges. This means that I utilize both short-term AND long-term therapeutic methodologies. I specialize in working with people who are depressed, anxious, suffering from sexual or relationship issues, daunted by the problems they face, or who find themselves creatively blocked, or not living up to their potential in their vocation, or who wish to guide their careers to new heights and new directions.

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
