As a partner in your healing, I’m here to guide you through the vulnerable work of remembering, reflecting, releasing, and reclaiming. Using compassionate listening, loving honesty, and intentional processing of the challenges and changes affecting your mental health, my hope for you is to recognize that peace is possible. Central to this journey is acknowledging and understanding how your identities such as race, gender, and sexuality shape your experiences and worldview. In honoring that, creating a partnership where all parts of your identity are seen, safe, and valued is crucial to my practice.

I work virtually with children, adults, couples, and families suffering from diagnoses including anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance abuse/addiction, and relationship issues.
I believe people find it easier to gain self improvement when they have someone supportive and unbiased to speak to. I am here to help work through and discuss any uncomfortable feelings or life struggles you may be experiencing. In my approach to therapy, I help assist the exploration of emotions, relationships, life goals, family dynamics and trauma. It's important to help every individual develop an appreciation for their story and to work on acceptance in order to move forward without feeling alone. I also implement Life Coaching sessions to those seeking short or long term goals. I am well versed in life skills of all kinds.

My focus areas include: Emotional Well-being: Anxiety, grief and loss, and managing caregiver burnout.
My counseling style is warm, caring, and interactive. I create a safe, stigma-free environment where all clients are treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. I work to develop a treatment plan in coordination with the client to ensure the most successful counseling relationship possible. Together, we can begin to create a space where they feel seen, heard, and understood. As we identify potential underlying issues, I integrate cognitive-behavioral therapy with a strength-based approach to help people change their thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior to improve their current situation and their work.

Parenthood can be a very challenging road, especially for new parents. It’s difficult to navigate between one’s dreams and expectations of pregnancy/childbirth vs. reality, which can look completely different. Parenthood is a time of constant transition from conception to childbirth and beyond. Thoughts of trauma and loss can also come up during this stage of your life. It doesn’t matter how many books you’ve read, how prepared you thought you were or how excited you are/were about this new chapter in your life, it can still be difficult to manage so many emotions. That’s all very normal!

You know how to look composed. But what would it be like to actually feel secure? You’ve built a life that looks exceptional from the outside — the career, the competence, the ability to hold it all together. But underneath, there’s a version of you that’s exhausted. Running on hypervigilance, struggling with self-worth beneath the high standards, wondering why insight and hard work haven’t quieted the noise. You might recognize yourself here: perfectionism that never lets you rest, relationships that feel unsteady, feeling empty outside of your roles, or cycling between “too much” and “not enough” with no real off switch.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
