I offer both in person and telehealth counseling sessions.
Welcome! Engaging in counseling can be exciting, relieving and also initially unsettling. Taking the first step to explore how counseling may benefit you is courageous, an act of self-care. I am glad you are here. I have been working with diverse individuals from a range of communities (cultural, spiritual and geographical) for over 30 years. Traveling with an individual for any part of their life journey is a sacred opportunity. I appreciate that a strong and effective therapeutic relationship must honor this privilege.

*I am not able to accept new clients at this time for individual treatment. However, I am accepting people for group therapy. * I enjoy building relationships that facilitate the healing process - moving from just coping everyday to overcoming barriers in relationships, work, school and overall well-being through connection. I have experience working with adults and adolescents with persistent anxiety, depression and difficulty in attachment, often this is due to trauma. Additionally, I enjoy working with adolescents and their families to create relationships that work for all family members.

First and foremost, we build trust. It is my belief that the best therapy can happen when you feel safe and supported. It is a goal of mine to show you that you can share your truth, and that I will be truthful and authentic with you. I love people, I love my work. If you feel you would benefit from having a caring professional, or if you feel you have some things you would like to work on in a nurturing environment, I might be the right one for you.

I'd be happy to see you in-person or over Zoom.
Hi, I’m Rebecca. I’m a licensed therapist in New York and California with over a decade of experience supporting adults through times of change—both expected and unexpected. Life transitions can be exciting, disorienting, painful, or all of the above. Whether you’re starting or ending college or grad school, navigating a career shift, adjusting to postpartum changes, moving through perimenopause, facing retirement, or coping with grief and loss, these moments can bring up questions about identity, purpose, and how to move forward. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

I see you. You’re exhausted from carrying the weight of not-enoughness, even when you’ve done everything you were “supposed” to do. You’ve tried to hold it all together and yet deep down, you still feel disconnected — from yourself, from your partner and others, from any real sense of peace. You long for the things we all need and deserve: to feel whole, to feel loved, to feel we belong, and to feel like life matters. Here's the thing - you don't have to live this way. For many years, I lived under a dark cloud too. I intimately know that longing for connection, belonging, and acceptance.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
