I understand how difficult it can be for some to ask for help. Whether you're considering entering therapy for the first time, or have prior experience, the first priority is on developing a sense of safety in the therapy session. Once a trusting connection is developed, I allow the client to identify their own goals. I believe therapy is about change, but the type of change we work toward and the pace with which we work, is determined by the client. I provide support and guidance in this process.

Life is tricky at times, and we all go through challenges. No one should have to go through them alone. Some people are going through transitions in life, career changes, substance use, loss, parenting challenges, and many more. I offer a safe space to allow you to walk through these challenges with me. You can do hard things, and I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to share your story with me.

Society tells us that being a parent is a special gift. We’re supposed to love every minute of it, be nearly perfect, and never get impatient. That sounds ideal, but the truth is that parenting is hard. Being a kid is hard. I challenge you to find a parent who has never lost their temper, or a child who never complains! And when we do get it right we don’t usually get much recognition. That’s the difficult news. The good news is that parents and children can learn to have stronger connections, more fun together, and actually look forward to their time as a family. You may just need more support, education, and the tools to do it.

The ideal client to work with is one who seeks counseling with the desire to help themselves. More importantly, an ideal client is ready to do the work necessary to make positive changes in their life. Dedication, desire and follow through is needed to achieve progress. There also has to be the understanding that counseling can be hard, which is part of the process. Ideally clients would also be open to hearing a different perspective than their own or hearing something other than they want to hear. The whole process of counseling, in my opinion, has to start with awareness.

Accepting new clients - My ideal client is someone carrying a lot—maybe a caregiver feeling overwhelmed, an older adult navigating major life changes, or a person facing ADHD/ADD, anxiety, depression, grief, or college stress. What they all share is a desire to feel understood, supported, and empowered. They want a safe space where they can finally breathe, speak honestly, and receive tools that truly help.

This profile is for a group practice. Relationships can be one of the biggest blessings and also one of the biggest stresses in your life. It's amazing how quickly life can get in the way of our relationships and cause chaos in our lives. We have obligations, responsibilities and demands that we have to keep up with, while putting in work to create a successful relationship. It can be exhausting at times and things can fall apart quickly. Therapy can be helpful for not just the couple or family, but the individual.

I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Quest Behavioral Health, Cigna, UHC, Oscar, Oxford, and Aetna for virtual clients.
Taking new clients starting in November! Are you zoning out on this page right now hoping the answers to your problems will magically materialize? Scrolling on here in the late hours of the evening because your mind just won’t stop racing? (Caught ya, but you’ve come to the right place.) You’ve been dealing with a lot that life has been throwing at you lately and it’s hard to just keep up, let alone feel like yourself. You’re tired of keeping it all locked up in your head, putting on a fake smile for the people in your life day in and day out while you’re ready to explode from the pressure inside.

Hi, I’m Rebecca. I’m a licensed therapist in New York and California with over a decade of experience supporting adults through times of change—both expected and unexpected. Life transitions can be exciting, disorienting, painful, or all of the above. Whether you’re starting or ending college or grad school, navigating a career shift, adjusting to postpartum changes, moving through perimenopause, facing retirement, or coping with grief and loss, these moments can bring up questions about identity, purpose, and how to move forward. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Have you spent your life trying to feel “enough”? Always the helper, the strong one, the fixer—until you're exhausted. If you grew up around addiction, neglect, or chaos, you may still be stuck in old survival roles: people-pleasing, over-responsibility, hiding your needs. Addiction affects everyone it touches—and over time, we lose ourselves trying to save someone else. You may be over functioning, trying to hold it all together and too drained to show up for your own life. It’s called codependent behaviors, and like addiction, it thrives on denial. But there is a way forward. Healing starts when you start focusing on you.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
