Each of us have faced painful personal experiences. Pain can be due to events, interactions with others or troubled relationships. Or they can be caused by negative behavior or thought patterns that won’t stop. Sometimes we can address such troubles on their own. However, if you have been unable to resolve difficult issues alone, you may realize how they reduce the quality of your life – by establishing a pattern of emotional problems, an inability to interact productively with others, impacting your career, negatively affect relationships, or create problematic habits. But they can be addressed with help. My hours are M-F 8-4

I believe that as we explore thinking and feeling through CBT, we may also need to incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy methods.
As social animals, we humans, not only learn about others when we talk with them, we learn about ourselves and define who we want to be. Simply put, this is why I believe that talk therapy can be helpful in processing emotions and fostering positive change.

My approach integrates psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and relational perspectives, acknowledging how societal structures and cultural narratives impact our wellbeing.
You've invested significant time and energy into personal development. You've gained valuable insights about your patterns and likely understand their origins. Yet despite this self-awareness and understanding, you've noticed that knowledge alone isn't creating the meaningful changes you're seeking.
I specialize in working with thoughtful teens and young adults, particularly women and LGBTQ+ folks, who are intimately familiar with this frustrating gap between understanding and transformation. Self-discovery is rarely linear, and sometimes the most challenging part isn't gaining insight – it's actually living differently.

I'm trained primarily in psychodynamic therapy, but principles/interventions from other paradigms also inform my work.
At its best, therapy assists people in improving not just their immediate problems but also their baseline levels of peace of mind. This is achieved in myriad ways, which cannot be predicted prior to beginning treatment and depend on who the patient is and what their life and history looks like, but it always begins with honest and creative dialogue.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
