I understand how difficult it can be for some to ask for help. Whether you're considering entering therapy for the first time, or have prior experience, the first priority is on developing a sense of safety in the therapy session. Once a trusting connection is developed, I allow the client to identify their own goals. I believe therapy is about change, but the type of change we work toward and the pace with which we work, is determined by the client. I provide support and guidance in this process.

Each of us have faced painful personal experiences. Pain can be due to events, interactions with others or troubled relationships. Or they can be caused by negative behavior or thought patterns that won’t stop. Sometimes we can address such troubles on their own. However, if you have been unable to resolve difficult issues alone, you may realize how they reduce the quality of your life – by establishing a pattern of emotional problems, an inability to interact productively with others, impacting your career, negatively affect relationships, or create problematic habits. But they can be addressed with help. My hours are M-F 8-4

Problems in relationships as well as coming to terms with loss can often be the hardest ones.
Therapy with me will have the power to help you take control of your life by coping better and feeling better on a daily basis. This could mean learning new skills and/or looking at the direction of your life in new ways. It could also mean exploring troubles from the past that still cause you pain and keep you from feeling your best and being at peace.

Individually and as a society we are grieving the loss of what was “normal” as we adjust to the oft-mentioned “new normal”, and we do not yet know what the future holds.
Though media espouses that the COVID-19 pandemic could inflict emotional trauma and PTSD on an un-paralleled scale, another imaginable outcome is Post-Traumatic Growth. Navigate into the future with a renewed sense of meaning & purpose. Identify and let go of old patterns that no longer work, even as you explore self-love & acceptance. You are an epic story.

Hi. Are you feeling overwhelmed and anxious? Are you feeling disconnected from others and having a difficult time communicating needs and desires to loved ones? I can help with that. I have been working with people on communication and negotiation of needs for many years. Being raised in a foster home, by my adopted parents, has helped my gain skills that I would not have had the opportunity to acquire otherwise, such as, accepting everyone for who they are and where they come from regardless of their background.

Over time, this can lead to anxiety, depression, grief, and a loss of self-awareness, of who they are beneath the roles, the survival strategies, and the emotional fatigue they have experienced.
I bring over a decade of clinical training and research, and the lived experience of navigating major life transitions myself. This dual lens allows me to offer therapy that’s both informed and deeply human.

We may work with a variety of issues that include anxiety, depression, grief, loss, end of life issues, chronic illness and pain, existential crises, men's issues, and relationship difficulties.
Therapy should be integrative, meaning it doesn't rigidly adhere to any one approach. It should also be individualized, with your needs always in mind. It may change as you change. I draw from a spectrum of many of the most proven to be effective means of conducting therapy, and with an array of issues. The goal is to address your most pressing concerns.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
