I am unable to accept new clients for both in-person and telehealth therapy at this time. I understand how difficult it can be for some to ask for help. Whether you're considering entering therapy for the first time, or have prior experience, the first priority is on developing a sense of safety in the therapy session. Once a trusting connection is developed, I allow the client to identify their own goals. I believe therapy is about change, but the type of change we work toward and the pace with which we work, is determined by the client. I provide support and guidance in this process.

As a therapist specializing in Body Image, Eating Disorders, Trauma, and OCD (including Trichotillomania, Dermotillomania, and other BFRBs), clients come to me looking for a grounding, calm anchor.
Does perfectionism, obsessive thoughts, or hyper-focus on perceived flaws keep you stuck? Do you (or your child) struggle with your body image, and/or have a negative relationship with food? Maybe you keep it together on the outside but find it hard to stop the inner chaos. Self doubt, feeling like a failure, feeling inadequate, hating yourself or being filled with shame are all indicators that it is time to make a change. I can help you create a plan and feel hope. Most of all I can help heal the pain of past experiences, self doubt/hatred and live authentically.

I work with people who may be struggling with depression, anxiety or eating disorders stemming from long-term childhood abuse or neglect.
You've hit the wall. Again. Overwhelmed, exhausted, and stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts that you can't seem to break, you just can't keep pretending that everything is fine anymore. No matter how hard you try to push it away or block it out, you just can't seem to shake the pain of your past, and it affects everything that's important to you. Your confidence, your relationships, and especially how you feel about yourself all seem like they are on shaky ground. Putting what you want and what you need last has once again caught up with you. You've thought about reaching out for help but don't know where to start or who to trust.

I wrote and published "Love, Crowd Out, Forgive, Accept - A Guide to Supporting a Love One with Anorexia" in 2022.
I have a passion for helping individuals, couples, and families navigate their mental health journeys. My primary strength as a therapist is connecting with my clients and helping them understand the feelings and thoughts behind their beliefs and actions, and then helping them learn to love themselves. If we work together, I will strive to help you connect with your core, centered self such that you can make decisions and take actions from a healthy, confident, calm and curious place rather than from a frustrated, angry, anxious or depressed place. I work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety and other common life issues.

I am Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) trained, along with completing advanced EMDR training for Eating Disorders and CPTSD.
Accepting new clients March 2025. Are you zoning out on this page right now hoping the answers to your problems will magically materialize? Scrolling on here in the late hours of the evening because your mind just won’t stop racing? (Caught ya, but you’ve come to the right place.) You’ve been dealing with a lot that life has been throwing at you lately and it’s hard to just keep up, let alone feel like yourself. You’re tired of keeping it all locked up in your head, putting on a fake smile for the people in your life day in and day out while you’re ready to explode from the pressure inside.

My desire is to help clients work through their issues (such as trauma, depression, eating disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, sexuality, addiction, parenting, spirituality, etc.
Therapeutically I borrow from several different schools of thought. I teach practical, life skills (such as are found within the realm of CBT or DBT) but also try to help individuals find the underlying cause for their symptoms. For issues involving trauma I have found excellent results using EMDR.

We work with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, eating disorders, bereavement, borderline, autism, ADHD, addiction, sexual abuse, DV, medical illnesses, relationship problems, LGTBQ+, adjustment disorders and forensic cases.
Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
