Life can be very challenging and demanding at times and can often leave us feeling confused, lonely, depressed, and anxious. I believe that addressing our mental health and emotional well being is as important as taking care of our physical health. My first approach to therapy is building a rapport to gain a better understanding to the needs and goals of the individual. We will work as a team to achieve a healthier mental and emotional well being by addressing life's challenges.

Life is often like a rollercoaster, filled with highs and lows of emotions. At times, you may feel confident and in control, while other moments can be clouded by negativity and doubt, leaving you feeling disconnected from reality. These emotions not only shape your inner experience but also influence your relationships with those around you. Both adults and children navigate these shared challenges, highlighting the universal nature of the human experience.

My primary goal is to curate non-judgmental, culturally safe spaces for clients of all backgrounds. As an Afro-Latino female clinician, I am especially passionate about serving people in my community and normalizing aspects of identity and culture that society may not recognize or understand. I understand people of color don’t always feel seen and heard, women of color even more so. I take pride in offering a space and opportunity for clients to experience therapeutic belonging and the freedom to be themselves when processing life's experiences.

On the outside, you look like you’re holding it all together, but inside, it feels like a constant swirl of anxiety, grief, or exhaustion. You may miss feeling like yourself; or still be figuring out who that even is now. Therapy with me is about more than coping. It's about creating a life where you feel grounded, present, and empowered. Healing doesn’t mean “getting back to who you were”: it means stepping into the version of yourself you want to become. You don’t have to carry this alone. If you’re ready for compassionate, effective support, reach out today to schedule a consultation.

I have years of experience helping adults, teens and families in crisis.
Do you struggle with feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Do you put your needs at the bottom of the to-do list? Do you wonder if life should feel somehow better? Happier? Now more than ever, people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about how they are supposed to manage their relationships, careers and their lives. Pushing away your needs and not taking time for yourself can lead to long-term issues for your mind and body. It shouldn’t be so hard to live a better life

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
