Let’s walk through the beach, the woods. Take a sip of tea with fresh mint, and enter a world of imagination, creativity, become one with the river, no judgment, safety, healing, serenity, grounding, love, solace, and always meeting you where you’re at. I take a holistic approach and focus on the mind body connection. I believe guided imagery meditation, motivational interviewing, dbt, creativity, psychodynamic, trauma informed care, emdr, and person centered approaches are ideal. I prefer to assist anyone who has felt demoralized or ostracized because of who they are. I believe we can impact the world together one smile at a time.

As I think about my journey as an artist - evolving toward art therapy and the clinical world, honing in on my definitions and applications, while recognizing art’s interventions in my own life - I realize these ideals are why I started a therapeutic private practice many years ago. Any creative process can be healing and the possibilities are infinite when blending the process with deep discussion, clinical based talk therapies, spiritual connection, life coaching and vocational services. I have made it my life's mission in sharing these tools to facilitate personal growth, positive change and reach one’s ultimate potential.

I specialize in supporting adults through challenges such as anxiety, depression, postpartum or parenting stress, relationship issues, life transitions, and low self-esteem.
Hi, I’m Ashley, a licensed mental health counselor who works with overwhelmed parents navigating anxiety, burnout, and the emotional weight of raising young children. Many of the parents I work with feel like their nervous system is constantly “on.” By the end of the day, you might feel overstimulated by noise, exhausted from being needed all day, and mentally drained from carrying the invisible load of parenting, work, and relationships. You may even find yourself wondering, “What happened to me?” You’re not broken and you’re not alone in this. Therapy with me is a space to slow things down and finally exhale.

Pregnancy and parenting through the early childhood years can be incredibly rewarding and incredibly challenging at the same time.
I work primarily through parent sessions because you are the most influential person in your child's life. Parent sessions typically have a stronger, faster impact because you are with your child all the time, not just an hour a week for a therapy session. Furthermore, research shows that supporting parents' wellbeing improves wellbeing for their children.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
