“ Anxiety, uncertainty, comparison, failure, depression and vulnerability” - most of us spend our lives avoiding these words. Then one day, we are depressed - not understanding how we got there. We become too small because we think that we don’t have control over these thoughts and how they derail our daily lives. The good news is that there is a way to free ourselves from the fear, grief, despair, and anxiety. Yes, we struggle throughout our lives, but we can build the courage to face our vulnerabilities. Let’s find a way together to be free - I can walk with you and help you become the person you’ve wanted to be for a long time

My ideal clients are adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, or a major life change — a new job, the end of a relationship, a shift in identity, or simply the feeling that something isn't working anymore. They're often people who have been carrying a lot on their own and are finally ready to have a space that's just for them. I help clients move forward by building a genuine, trusting relationship first — because I believe that's where real change begins. From there, we work together to understand patterns, build insight, and develop tools that feel true to who you are.

Hello and congratulations on choosing clinical hypnotherapy to empower yourself for taking the next step towards achieving your goals. Before any change can truly begin and YOUR desired outcome be established I (we) will do everything possible to understand 1. where you are 2. how you arrived there/what has happened/what is happening etc.) and 3. where you want to be. Some clinical hypnotherapy sessions will be very short and others will take longer. Each person and each concern is different, however; all therapy including clinical hypnotherapy requires work and there is no such thing as an “easy-fix” if YOU want a lasting change.

No one would be able to tell that something is wrong just by looking at you. In fact, on the outside, it might look like you are doing great, even thriving. Or maybe it feels as if the things that are bothering you are not that big of a deal in comparison to others. Sometimes, we struggle to put the most painful thoughts, feelings and experiences into words, and so begins the process of psychotherapy. The language of mental health has become commonplace, but how a person experiences mental distress is unique. I can help put language to experience and connect with your authentic self in a meaningful way.

My work is rooted in my psychoanalytic training where we work together to uncover a deeper understanding of the self.
Many people seek out therapy because they feel stuck and overwhelmed in their lives. My aim is to help guide those who are looking for change through an attentive and non-judgemental lens. I help people thrive and grow through transitional periods in their lives; from understanding trauma and troubled relationships to struggles of anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-esteem, and body image.

Thank you for visiting my site. Therapy offers a unique opportunity to get to know ourselves, and provides a safe place to think about the ways we can make our lives better. In this space, we come to understand the deeper meanings of the problems we face, gain the emotional tools to solve these problems, and become more confident in the decisions we make. Therapy can help to slow life down, and helps us find a place in it that fits who we are.

My belief is that the therapeutic process is a collaborative effort between the client and the therapist, and that clients are experts of their own lives. I am simply here to facilitate the process of overcoming challenges, helping clients reach their life goals in a safe, non judgmental, relaxed environment. Together we will work on building strong interpersonal relationships, increasing self esteem to reach your highest potential, and coping skills to manage anxiety, depression, anger, and other difficulties that may challenge you. My goal as a therapist is to empower my clients to live a happy, fulfilled, and meaningful life that uncovers their "ideal self."

I believe everyone should have someone they can talk to, whether about life's most difficult issues, or the simplest ones. That's what I am here for; someone to listen and help work through whatever challenges life brings.

I work with people to understand what may be holding them back from achieving their goals, whether in relationships or professionally. Often, old patterns that are no longer useful and out of one's awareness are operating. These concerns come up both in individual and couple work. I focus on attachment patterns -- in couples, there is often a pursuer and an avoider, although these roles are not always fixed. I've seen these patterns in couples of all sexual orientations. I do my best to stay away from gender stereotypes and stay open to what is being communicated, both verbally and nonverbally.

Hi! I'm Neli Betancourt-Rodriguez. I'm a Christian bilingual (Spanish/English) licensed trauma therapist in New York and Florida. Whatever brought you here, I'm so glad you're here. Your story deserves to be heard, uncovered, and transformed into purpose. Your life matters. My hope is to walk alongside you in the aftermath of what can feel like the weight of the world. Sometimes, that aftermath looks like learning to trust again after abuse, or to feel joy after years of depression and sadness, or to unlearn patterns that no longer serve you. It may be hard to believe freedom is accessible. But here, I know it's possible. . .

Often, despite knowing what they "should" or "could" do to achieve personal growth, people feel stuck in similar patterns. Others feel lost or that they don't feel content. So many of life's challenges evoke painful feelings, including sadness, fear, anxiety, frustration, loneliness, and isolation. I see therapy as a space where I can help my patients understand those feelings and how they relate to their personal, familial and cultural narratives. With that in hand, patients gain freedom and confidence in how they choose to navigate the world.

I have a psychoanalytic perspective, meaning I look for deeper understanding through unconscious functioning and secondary gains.
Nothing's wrong but something’s not quite right, either. You don’t need fixing. You need space to think and feel so you can ask yourself: Is this the life I want? Life isn’t just happening to you. It’s speaking to you. Every success and every misstep is a clue. Not just to who you are, but to who you're meant to become. Whether you're navigating success that feels empty, carrying stress that no longer serves you, or you've achieved a lot externally but crave more internally, therapy can offer the clarity you didn’t know you needed.

My approach is psychoanalytic and psychodynamic, which means we look closely at the emotional meanings, conflicts, and relationship patterns that shape your experience, including patterns that may be difficult to see alone.
People often come to therapy when they feel stuck in patterns they cannot fully understand or change on their own. You may find yourself repeating the same difficulties in relationships, feeling anxious or depressed, struggling with self-criticism, or sensing that something in your life feels blocked despite outward success.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
