Ready to talk about it? Let's start therapy together! I work with children, adolescents, and adults all across the gender spectrum and in the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide education to families, discuss concerns related to gender and sexuality, and review the co-occuring mental health issues that sometimes accompany different gender identities. For trans individuals, the world of puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, gender-affirming surgeries, and changing name markers can be overwhelming—I'm here to help with that, too. I’m happy to write gender-affirming letters for procedures or institutions.

It is easy to become overwhelmed by the sadness, anger, or anxiety we experience. During these times we often feel uncertain and insecure. My goal is to help you find balance and to restore a sense of control and inner strength. I believe it is important to listen and to be supportive as well as to provide guidance as you explore where you have been, where you are and where you hope to go. I believe it is important for you to set realistic and reasonable expectations of yourself as well as others. And to develop the communication skills that will allow you to share your thoughts and feelings in healthy and appropriate ways.

I serve individual adults as a CERTIFIED JUNGIAN ANALYST sensitive to injustice and cruelty within one’s society, work setting, family and/or partnership, and especially within one’s own psyche. This covers your concerns about mood, relationships, sex and sexuality, creativity issues, compulsions, coping with change or loss, lack of passion, disorganization, or effects of neglect, abuse or trauma. We would aim at your gaining greater clarity and self-acceptance and living authentically and more fully. We might explore dreams, fantasies and whatever else your soul expresses, applying courage, honesty, humility and imagination.

Life can be very challenging at times and our usual way of managing doesn't work as effectively as it used to. Our coping skills aren't helping us to feel a sense of control and well-being and we end up feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, we can't sleep well, we under eat or overeat, experience mood changes and possible difficulties managing work, relationships and home life.
I am committed to helping you understand what you are going through, developing strategies to make changes, assisting you with stress reduction so that you feel more comfortable within yourself and your life.

People thinks you have it together all of the time. Really, you are overwhelmed spending all your energy making it look so. No one would know you are highly stressed, both at work and at home. You take care of everyone else's needs before your own, and while its exhausting, you feel too guilty to put yourself first. You have always succeeded in school and in work because that was what was expected of you. However, you know you are not living your truth. You know it's because you never took the time to figure out what truly fulfills you. As you try to sleep your heart pounds while you criticize yourself for not being good enough.

I believe that change is possible...and necessary to reach our goals for a happier life. I imagine you are ready for a change, either in your circumstances, your emotional state, or in patterns and behaviors that keep you stuck. Everyone needs help in order to identify blind spots and see things from a different perspective. I love working with anyone who is ready to take on the challenge of exploring their difficulties and overcoming obstacles that get in the way of feeling successful and satisfied.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
