Have you wondered if you would benefit from therapy? I offer a complimentary consultation to discuss any questions you may have. As a senior therapist at Greenwich Psychology Group, I enjoy working with children and adolescents that may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral or family issues. You can talk to me about anything; nothing will surprise me. I am accessible to parents and easy to talk to. I focus on your child, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to become their own therapist by learning how to deal with challenges. Clients often feel better early on in treatment.

We live in a world of uncertainty, where feeling unsure, can create a climate, of fear, anxiety, depression and dramatic relationships change. When one feels isolated or lonely, and questions their strengths, it is a gift, This is an explanation, for so many symptoms we may suffer. We were not meant to be alone. In Latin the word Therapist is “ A Friend on a Journey “ , it is not only the individual therapeutic relationship that heals, community, being understood connecting, with others, free to be curious, and struggling our shared human met or unmet needs, brings fresh friendships, and a grounding of problem solving

My approach to therapy is conversational in style. Over my more than 25 years of practice, I have found that interaction enhances the energy level in the room and builds a strong relationship between my client and myself. I offer a good deal of feedback and it is in this give and take that we define the vital issues confronting a person. This relationship is a therapeutic alliance, a conversation between two people interacting as equal members of a team, to achieve the goals that have been set. This therapeutic alliance is the foundation for all the work that we do.

My work assists people struggling with parent-child issues, parental stress, school difficulties, vocational challenges, relationship & interpersonal issues, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, depression, overall stress management, disruptive disorders, developmental disorders, and challenges adjusting to life transitions, including the stress brought on by Covid-19.
The decision to begin therapy for yourself or your child can be difficult and often follows attempts to manage challenging life circumstances independently. I view therapy as a collaborative process in which clients are encouraged to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors in a supportive, nonjudgmental, and compassionate setting. I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience in Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Family Psychotherapy, Parent Consultation, Couples Therapy, and Special Education and 504 Plan Consultation.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists

Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?

PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?

In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
