I create space to build a trusting relationship where processing and healing feel safe.
Acknowledging that you or your child need support is the first step in the therapeutic process. Due to the complex nature of the relationships in our lives, it is often helpful have a neutral person to offer a listening ear, guidance, and to facilitate a process of gaining more insight about yourself. My goal is to support you, your child, and/or your family in your own unique process. I can help you in identifying and regulating emotions, stopping negative thoughts and patterns, overcoming challenges, strengthening relationships and utilizing healthy coping skills. I look forward to connecting with you and/or your child.

We seek therapy when we find ourselves stuck. My role is to help you get unstuck so that you can live a happier and more rewarding life. Working collaboratively, we will identify and explore unrecognized patterns of relationship . Our basic experience of the world is largely determined by the nature of these patterns. I can help you change these patterns, and in this way to discover new possibilities for living.

I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the past 9 years, working with individuals and couples in a clinical setting, as well as private psychotherapy. I believe that every person can reach their potential, strive towards their goals, heal from their past and obtain happiness by learning how to be present in their lives; while learning how to be insightful about oneself and gain empowerment.

In couples therapy, I provide an environment where honest communication can be expressed in a non-confrontational way.
I believe that change is possible...and necessary to reach our goals for a happier life. I imagine you are ready for a change, either in your circumstances, your emotional state, or in patterns and behaviors that keep you stuck. Everyone needs help in order to identify blind spots and see things from a different perspective. I love working with anyone who is ready to take on the challenge of exploring their difficulties and overcoming obstacles that get in the way of feeling successful and satisfied.

We all have the fundamental need to grow into and express who we are meant to be. However, this natural process can be inhibited by our need to adapt to pressures of family and society, by trauma, or by seemingly unresolvable contradictions in our personality. The goal of therapy is to bring this latent process to life, and to make it more conscious. A good therapeutic relationship will help you to be more receptive to yourself and to notice and honor these inner workings.

I believe that the psychotherapeutic relationship is first of all a relationship between two human beings, and I work to achieve an authentic personal connection with all my patients.
Have the huge life changes induced by the Covid-19 pandemic brought you to the brink of despair? Many patients grapple with employment change or loss and a resulting lack of structure, identity and purpose in life. Others struggle with spending 24 hours a day with their partners and/or children and attempt to console themselves with substances. Older folks and ones with chronic and/or life-threatening disease experience increased isolation and helplessness. We've all lost some of our favorite coping mechanisms! Psychotherapy enables you to reveal a self you may have kept hidden and to cope and change in ways that you desire.

Finding a therapist who helps you feel safe, supported, and challenged is central to this process. I've been fortunate to work with a wide range of people, including those dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, sexual issues, sexual and gender identity exploration, health concerns, artistic blockages, addiction, parenting, and fertility issues.

Making the choice to seek and begin therapy is positive and courageous. It's often a valuable step toward resolving the issues that are blocking the pleasure and fulfillment you deserve. Are you feeling depressed or anxious? Poor body image? Do you have concerns about your sexual functioning? Issues with libido? Pain or discomfort with sexual activities? Having relationship difficulties? Struggling with sexual identity, orientation, or gender expression? Any or all of these can impact your overall well being. I aim to support your capacity to grow and change, feel grounded, and to live to your highest possibility!

My practice is diverse and includes work with lesbian and gay individuals and couples as well as heterosexual individuals and couples .
It takes courage to reach out for help and take action to change your life. Selecting a therapist who is the best fit for your personality and situation is an important decision. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I counsel adults, couples , and adolescents. I use a strength-based approach to help my clients define and achieve their goals. One of my main interests is in working with couples to help them understand their needs as individuals and as partners and to communicate more effectively. It is the unique relationship between patient and therapist that transforms and transcends the past traumas and offers hope for a joyful future.
My training is in clinical psychology, with over thirty years of experience in the field. I am licensed in New York and Florida. By scope of my practice, I am a general practitioner, with interest in treating persons with anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic issues. My approach tends to encourage free emotional expression in the service of resolving psychological trauma and conflict. I am exclusively practicing via Teletherapy and prefer working through Zoom and other HIPPA approved platforms. I require minimal preliminary paperwork and appreciate a 24-hour notice for any changes.

We are equals in our relationship : I won’t pretend to be an expert on your life, but I am a partner in your growth.
Ready to talk about it? Let's start therapy together! I work with children, adolescents, and adults all across the gender spectrum and in the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide education to families, discuss concerns related to gender and sexuality, and review the co-occuring mental health issues that sometimes accompany different gender identities. For trans individuals, the world of puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, gender-affirming surgeries, and changing name markers can be overwhelming—I'm here to help with that, too. I’m happy to write gender-affirming letters for procedures or institutions.

My specialty in teletherapy was born out of my commitment to make quality therapy accessible to all. Acutely aware of the reality that there are many barriers to consistent therapy, I provide rich short-term and long-term support exclusively via teletherapy.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
