I enjoy working with people of all ages. My passion is with children and teens. I believe people want to be heard and understood; sometimes life doesn't allow that. I love offering the space for people to feel comfortable and safe while working on themselves and entrusting me with their thoughts and feelings. Therapy can be a hard scary first step to finding yourself and I hope to help you along that journey. As your therapist, together, we can create a therapeutic process that fits just for you.

I believe everyone is deserving of processing their emotions in a place that is safe, non judgmental and met with compassion and empathy. This growth happens in children, adolescents and adults and is always evolving. I'm honored to be able to hold space for you or your children to do this work.

In my practice, I have worked with a variety of people. I have found people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and codependency. People surviving, but unsure of how to live. They outwardly seem to be happy, have everything together and can have successful lives. People are managing work and family, they juggle busy lives and are doing the best they can for those they love. Inwardly, life can be hard, challenging and at times overwhelming. I have been able to help people work through these issues and more. Helping you learn new coping skills and finding your way to a better life.

People can look like they "have it all together" but feel like their world is falling apart. People often put on a brave face, smile, and say "I'm fine" but they are crumbling inside, finding it difficult to focus. Struggles with family, relationships, work, and school may stem from different experiences that have affected how a person develops emotionally and how a person sees the world around them. The sadness and emotional disconnect that occurs can cause loneliness and anger; anxiety and pain.

I have a special interest in helping women ditch “people pleasing” behaviors, set boundaries, prioritize themselves, cultivate healthy relationships, and live more authentic & peaceful lives.
Are you a young adult or millennial (aged 21-44) struggling with anxiety or navigating a new life change? You’ve come to the right place! Maybe you’ve been struggling with anxiety for years and you’re now feeling ready to work through it. Or maybe you’re having difficulty adjusting to a recent life event such as a relationship ending, a job change, or graduating from college. On the outside you may look like you’ve got it all together, but on the inside you find yourself spiraling with “what ifs”, ruminating on worst case scenarios, second guessing your choices, and doubting your capabilities. I hear you. I can help.

For many, the idea of sharing your most personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences with someone else can be overwhelming, particularly if you have faced judgment, rejection, trauma, or other adverse experiences in your life. It can be difficult to imagine trusting someone enough to allow them to hear your story. However, it is in that vulnerable place where the magic of healing can occur. I strive to create a warm, safe, and accepting environment as a means to develop trust and a strong therapeutic alliance. My approach is supportive and collaborative, and we will work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

The dark thoughts won't stop; "I really don't even want to be here anymore" or "What's the point?" Ever since the traumatic event, it seems like your mind is no longer your own. Everything feels terrifying and hopeless. It seems that no one really understands. You shift between keeping your struggles from those you love, to trying to share, only to be met with all the wrong responses; "chin up" or "others have it worse", just isn't helpful. You can't help but wonder- "everyone thinks I'm crazy" or "maybe I am crazy." You're so tired of feeling helpless, but you just don't know where to turn.

Sometimes years well into our career or relationships, we find ourselves stuck, yearning for a change and wanting more. We may grow to think that there is a perfect way of doing things. We might think we’ve attained the life we’ve always wanted but find ourselves dissatisfied. You may find that you compare yourself to others and feel that others have a sense of happiness that you don’t. You may feel like a failure and wonder what you did wrong, did you make bad choices, why you’re isolated, or not deserving of good things. I help high achievers to develop healthier thought patterns and behaviors to achieve long-lasting satisfaction.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
