Do you struggle with your relationship to food and your body in ways that affect your daily life? Maybe you’re navigating a major life transition, like becoming a parent, and feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure where to turn. You might find yourself wondering if life could feel more grounded, joyful, and connected. In a world that often feels chaotic and lacking in meaningful support, it’s easy to feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, disconnection, or self-criticism. But healing is possible.

In the journey of life, we all face challenges that can weigh heavily on us. Sometimes these challenges, and the effort expended in overcoming them, cast a heavy darkness on our heart and mind. Whether those challenges are grappling with anxiety, navigating the depths of depression, confronting past traumas, or navigating the complexities of identity within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum - know that you are not alone.

I believe that asking for help, and taking the first step with a new therapist is often the hardest part of the therapeutic process. I feel that there is not a one size fits all approach to therapy. We are all very different, we have varying life experiences and most of all we do not all process or feel things in the same way. I will help you identify your goals and objectives, and we will work towards them together. Life can become overwhelming at times and I will help you unload what can often feel like a huge the pile of dishes in the sink, but one plate at a time.

People who work best with me are those who feel caught in between what the world tells them they should be and what they want for themselves. You’ve been thinking about how to take that next step to break free, but you’re still hoping for clarity, and likely a sense of certainty of what you’ll encounter. You have a hunch that pushing through despite not knowing what’s ahead is the way to go, and a little more than a nudge would go a long way.

You may appear composed and successful on the outside while privately feeling anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or caught in patterns that no longer serve you. Many of my clients are hardworking professionals, young adults dedicated towards self-improvement, caregivers, entrepreneurs, and thoughtful individuals who are accustomed to functioning at a high level while quietly carrying stress, anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, relationship strain, or unresolved trauma. You may be the one others depend on professionally and personally, yet rarely feel like you have a space to slow down and be fully supported.

You are more than what has happened to you. What you do today matters most. I affirm that every session is a gift the client gives to themselves towards their self-discovery and care. I have over 10 years of experience working with diverse and underserved populations. Working closely with children, adolescents, and adults across the lifespan has provided me with a lens in which I approach the work from a strengths-based focus that is accessible and allows the client to gain small insights over time. My areas of specialty include trauma/abuse, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship issues.

It is easy to become overwhelmed by the sadness, anger, or anxiety we experience. During these times we often feel uncertain and insecure. My goal is to help you find balance and to restore a sense of control and inner strength. I believe it is important to listen and to be supportive as well as to provide guidance as you explore where you have been, where you are and where you hope to go. I believe it is important for you to set realistic and reasonable expectations of yourself as well as others. And to develop the communication skills that will allow you to share your thoughts and feelings in healthy and appropriate ways.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
