We are living in uniquely challenging times that can add new stress to an already complex world. You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, sad, angry, or simply exhausted. Sometimes these feelings are rooted in past experiences that continue to impact your present. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Are you at a point in your life where something needs to change? Therapy can help. I believe you have the inner wisdom and capability to heal and my role is to help you nurture that connection with yourself. I use a trauma informed lens to help you learn to understand yourself and where your thoughts, feelings and reactions come from; learn to have more compassion for yourself as a growing human being; and work to heal wounds from your past that fester and resurface in the present.

My clients often struggle with relationship issues stemming from early childhood trauma; this results in coping mechanisms that work, but may carry a big price tag. They may grapple with sexual abuse, partner violence, sexual orientation and/ or disability related issues. Often, these manifest as substance abuse, cutting, communication problems or self- isolating behaviors. They may have friends and family members who do not truly "see" them, and as a result their own view of self is dim. Other clients are coping with situational anxiety and depression related to Covid, and need to establish safety, structure and hope.

I utilize a range of effective psychotherapy methods to foster self-understanding in my clients, encouraging them to embrace new perspectives and attitudes towards life’s challenges. It’s important to recognize that therapy isn’t a quick fix or a magic pill; it’s a healing journey that requires active participation and commitment from both the client and the therapist. However, by making small adjustments to self-defeating behaviors and learning to manage feelings of sadness, fear, and pain, clients can achieve transformative, life-changing results.

In order to improve our lives, we need to improve our perspectives. This means stepping out of our comfort zones and adding new beneficial experiences and learning better ways to navigate the ever changing world around us. It is courageous to want to confront our current mode of thinking, and as a therapist, I am genuinely excited to provide a safe and welcoming environment to help guide those choosing to do so.

Heavy emotions and distressing thoughts weighing you down? Let us help you get unstuck You might find yourself with a low-mood, thinking about the past over and over, and this has disconnected you from yourself and others. You might be in a constant state of worry about the future & unable to get out of your own head. The worst part about all of it is you have negative thoughts and beliefs about yourself which might sound like "I'm not good enough", "I'm stupid", "I have no value", "I'm a bad person". These are some of the possible negative core beliefs you carry, and they are interrupting your life. You want a deeper level of care.

We are collectively facing such challenging times, so why go it alone? If you are in need of support, either as an individual or as a couple, I'd like to be there for you. I specialize in working with adolescents to adults, as well as couples - but am of course open to working with those outside of this area of focus. I currently have the most availability earlier in the day, and work remotely as a telehealth clinician.

I love being a licensed, clinical, social worker as much today as when I started more than 30 years ago. My priority is to create a safe and affirming environment where you can let your "mask" down. Discover how to show up for yourself authentically, as a whole, singular and worthy individual. Our work will embrace what makes you unique, and confront your challenges without treating you like you need to be "fixed." In our work together, we will identify and amplify your unique strengths and abilities. We can also address how past struggles impact the challenges you experience today.
