It may be difficult to find the right fit in speaking to someone about things you hold deep within yourself. There may be things that you need to share with someone because you want to work on changing them or mainly just because you don't want to keep them bottled up any longer. Whatever the reasons may be, looking for the right person to talk to can be a very difficult and time consuming task. I want to help you find that person where you can take the reins and design the therapeutic interaction. We will be partners in your road to recovery. Your life...your choices. Let me help you.

They may grapple with sexual abuse, partner violence, sexual orientation and/ or disability related issues.
I provide psychodynamic therapy in addition to CBT and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Each person is unique; sometimes validation, mirroring, structure and support is all that's needed; at other times specific traumatic incidents need to be processed. I do not believe in the old adage, "no pain, no gain;" therapy is supposed to make us feel better!

I specialize in complex trauma, sexual abuse, and what is often referred to as Borderline Personality Disorder.
For people who have experienced developmental/complex trauma, life can be incredibly painful with many different issues and symptoms that can feel so overwhelming. In therapy, we can help you access and work through the underlying wounding that has lead to the ways you have learned to protect yourself. I believe that at each person's core lays the capacity for deep healing and connection, and it is within the context of safe relationships that we can access that I believe that the therapeutic relationship serves as a sacred space where individuals can feel seen, heard, and valued without judgment.

If you're feeling disconnected or struggling with relationships or daily life, know you're not alone. Many of the people I work with have experienced childhood trauma, neglect, emotional abuse, or moments of feeling detached, distant, or “checked out” from themselves or the world. Healing doesn’t have to be faced alone—it’s okay to show up just as you are, with all the complexities that come with it. Together, we’ll explore what feels overwhelming, slowly and expansively, allowing space for healing at your own pace.

Life unfolds in moments—some tender, some turbulent, all meaningful. When someone tells me they’re taking it day by day, I gently offer this: try moment by moment. Because so much can shift in a single breath. I’m a licensed therapist and life coach. For over 20 years, I’ve walked alongside individuals on their healing journeys—helping them move through self-imposed blockages and toward the life they deeply desire.

In our work together, we will examine and unpack root causes of trauma, anxiety, and depression and look at tools and techniques to help relieve symptoms. I aim to provide a safe and sacred space where we can explore emotions, let go of unhelpful patterns, and find relief through somatic and creative approaches including EMDR, MBSR, music, art, sound, and movement to allow a free flow of expression and release to occur in the sessions.

Often negative events from our past will present themselves at the most inopportune moments, causing many problems. They sometimes show up as depression, anxiety, isolating ourselves, and repeating negative relationship patterns. If this sounds like something you are struggling with I just want you to know it is not your fault. You are not alone in this and I can help you!

My clients are often intellectually curious, creatively driven individuals who have struggled to find spaces where they feel genuinely understood. Many are drawn to exploring deeper questions around identity, meaning, relationships, and the human experience. I frequently work with those who identify as the “black sheep” within high-achieving or complex family systems, as well as artists, performers, clinicians, and high-visibility professionals. You may be navigating trauma, anxiety, distrust, dissociation, identity exploration, unusual perceptual experiences, or the complicated intersection of visibility, success and isolation.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
