Whether you are struggling with the silent weight of anxiety, managing a recent loss, or seeking a space to process intergenerational trauma, I offer a sophisticated, bilingual environment where your story doesn't need a translator.
Fluent in English and Farsi, I specialize in helping adults, elders, and families in New York reclaim their peace of mind. My approach is direct, compassionate, and evidence-based, designed for those who value cultural nuance as much as clinical expertise.

Do you struggle with your relationship to food and your body in ways that affect your daily life? Maybe you’re navigating a major life transition, like becoming a parent, and feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure where to turn. You might find yourself wondering if life could feel more grounded, joyful, and connected. In a world that often feels chaotic and lacking in meaningful support, it’s easy to feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, disconnection, or self-criticism. But healing is possible.

CAUSES of contraction – anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship/family difficulties, separation and loss, work stress, significant life changes…
You are multi-dimensional. You are filled with thoughts, feelings, hopes and desires. You have challenges/obstacles that prevent you from getting to where you want to be. You want to live a happier life, more satisfying relationships or a more fulfilling job. You want to be at peace. "It is never too late to be who you might have been." George Elliot.

I believe that asking for help, and taking the first step with a new therapist is often the hardest part of the therapeutic process. I feel that there is not a one size fits all approach to therapy. We are all very different, we have varying life experiences and most of all we do not all process or feel things in the same way. I will help you identify your goals and objectives, and we will work towards them together. Life can become overwhelming at times and I will help you unload what can often feel like a huge the pile of dishes in the sink, but one plate at a time.

In the journey of life, we all face challenges that can weigh heavily on us. Sometimes these challenges, and the effort expended in overcoming them, cast a heavy darkness on our heart and mind. Whether those challenges are grappling with anxiety, navigating the depths of depression, confronting past traumas, or navigating the complexities of identity within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum - know that you are not alone.

As a mental health professional, i am always guiding clients to make improvements, and it isn’t always easy. I have many clients with different mental health issues. The most ideal situation with my client was when he required assistance with depressed mood and adjustment to new relationship. Assisting my client with adjustment, positive reinforcement, problem-solving skills, communication skills and relaxation techniques was rewarding. I Use that momentum and some carefully chosen resolutions and goals to help my client go into with more hope and lasting, positive changes.

I specialize in treating effects of stress and trauma, serious or chronic illness, and loss and bereavement.
Severe or chronic stress often feels more threatening than challenging. An illness can disrupt the course of your life, and cause fear, discouragement, and anger. Interpersonal loss can be life's most painful aspect, and grieving one of our most difficult life tasks. Prolonged grief refers to sustained feelings of emptiness and emotional pain.

You want different things, but up on the list for what I support with includes: having a sense of wholeness, authenticity, and autonomy in your life, relief from some kind of loss or pain in your heart or mind, or having a happy family, You deserve these things and I want to help you get there.
My approach involves exploring the deepest parts of yourself which often includes looking at the things you most wish to avoid or hide from, your shadows. Myths tell us our deep gold is trapped there. But we must begin with the basics of trust, self-care, and stability in the real-world, all of which I will support you or your family in along their journey.

Or it is difficult to negotiate one of life's transitions: finding or changing work life; partnering/marrying; moving/settling; separating/divorcing: birth; aging; illness and pain, or death of a loved one.
In addition to talking I offer a number of tools including but not limited to mindfulness, relaxation, art, dance/movement therapy, and EMDR, which is used to help people release trauma and hurt. I am always present as listener, witness and coach to the individual's strength, health and courage.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
