You seek a healing environment where you feel seen and heard that allows you to connect to your deeper 'why' and prioritize what's meaningful for you. You want to develop insights that allow you to find relief from symptoms of anxiety, depression, and overwhelming feelings related to changing roles, challenging relationships and goals, and/or questions of sexuality and gender.

Do you feel anxious, burned out, or disconnected from yourself beneath the roles you carry as a partner, parent, or professional? You show up for everyone else, yet inside you feel depleted and find yourself wondering, “When is it my turn?” You long for a sense of calm, the ability to set boundaries without guilt, and the freedom to reconnect with who you truly are. You’re ready for more than just getting through the day—you’re ready to feel like yourself again.

The way in which people navigate the world is through experience. Many of us have had difficult experiences at different times in our lives which have contributed to the way in which we view the world and more importantly, ourselves. As such, most people carry negative views or beliefs about themselves that are simply not true. Until those beliefs are challenged in an effort to change them, we more often than not, experience emotional or psychological discomfort in many forms. Therapy is a space that serves to remind each individual of their ability to positively impact their lives by cultivating a more accepting view of themselves.

Is your child bright and capable, yet easily overwhelmed, impulsive, or quick to melt down? I specialize in working with neurodiverse children — often those with ADHD or executive functioning differences — who struggle with frustration tolerance, emotional regulation, and confidence. Many of the children I see are creative, thoughtful kids who become discouraged when things feel hard or when they worry about getting something wrong. Through art therapy, children can express themselves and work through challenges in ways that feel more natural than traditional talk therapy.

An ideal client may be someone that is struggling with anxiety or depression. They may have ruminating or intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, struggles with personal identity, lack of motivation, or a bleak outlook on life. This client may want to live a more positive life and may want to increase awareness of themselves and their triggers. I would help by offering alternative viewpoints, challenging distorted beliefs, helping to recognize their strengths and passions, aid in recognizing and managing anxious triggers, as well as developing coping skills to decrease the amount of time spent in anxious or depressed states.

I don't know what to say here and that is okay! With acceptance of this I can be present in curiosity and openness. Support of my clients begins here. I work with adolescents, young adults, adults, and couples to help them tap into their innate power to heal. Whether suffering from anxiety, heart-ache, depression, or deep trauma, behind all these symptoms exists a path to wholeness.

I hold a psychodynamic perspective and utilizes techniques rooted in Mindfulness, Gestalt Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Attachment Theory.
Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I stand by the commitment, “I’m here with you.” I believe that each of our stories are equally sacred as they are unique and see therapy as an opportunity to cultivate curiosity for ourselves and to let go of self-judgement. Taking a Psychodynamic approach, I aim to help my clients unravel, experience, and understand themselves more deeply, through building awareness, flexibility, and the capacity to make change. Humor, authenticity, and the willingness to experiment is foundational to my approach.

Within each one of us is an inner child that holds the many hurts of our life. To survive this world, we hide the child away, building strong brick walls, preventing the child from emerging. Sometimes we use our “busyness” to ignore the cries of the child behind the barricades. Or we turn to anger, addiction and numbness to drown out the deafening cries. In our moments of brokenness, we stop and wonder, “Is this how I will have to live the rest of my life?” Trauma touches us all in different ways. The role of a therapist is to guide you through the pain and hurt so you can live a life of intention, meaning and inner peace.

Things can look and seem really good on the outside. you may have done a lot of work but in therapy before, but you still struggle with your relationships and with your self-esteem. That negative core belief (I'm not enough; I'm unlovable, etc.) you have about yourself is still there and won't go away. You find you either overreact or under-react. Old thoughts/feelings, excessive anxiety, addictions, ruptured attachments, low confidence or depression has you feeling stuck, and you want better for yourself and for those around you. You want your inner world to match the goodness of your outer world. You want congruency.

With compassion and acceptance, I would like to help alleviate the distress you may be experiencing at this point in your life. In the safety of my office, we can explore areas in which you may feel stuck or overwhelmed. I have worked extensively with individuals seeking to overcome addictions; who wish to make sense of relationships; who are struggling with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, loss, or sexuality; and who are experiencing major life transitions. By looking at internal dialogue and seeing where thought patterns may be self-defeating, I can help shift these to more optimal, self-nurturing thinking.

We have been helping people learn how to make the changes they want since 2008. Relationship woes? Existential Angst? Have a troubled teen or child in trouble? Feel stuck your life? You are not alone. There are other people out here going through this too. This is temporary. We will reach out to you, discuss your needs, and pair you with a therapist familiar with your needs. Together, you will meet, identify issues, collaborate to create a plan, follow through with some reasonable interventions, and figure out ways to make the changes last.

Gestalt Therapists
What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.

How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.

How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.

Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
