In the journey of life, we all face challenges that can weigh heavily on us. Sometimes these challenges, and the effort expended in overcoming them, cast a heavy darkness on our heart and mind. Whether those challenges are grappling with anxiety, navigating the depths of depression, confronting past traumas, or navigating the complexities of identity within the LGBTQIA+ spectrum - know that you are not alone.

I often use techniques like EMDR, IFS or DBT but recognize they are only tools and NOT the therapy.
I believe I was born a therapist. Caring and understanding others have always been natural parts of me. I believe each of us is born with the inner guidance to grow into the best version of ourselves. But there are many challenges along the way that interfere with that process. Childhood trauma, loss and painful circumstances, make us doubt and lose sight of our inner guidance. We begin to unconsciously work against ourselves; the result is pain in the form of emotional distress, unhealthy choices and hurtful relationships. But we have the ability and even an obligation to ourselves and family to heal and rediscover our true selves.

In addition to talking I offer a number of tools including but not limited to mindfulness, relaxation, art, dance/movement therapy, and EMDR, which is used to help people release trauma and hurt.
Are you feeling stuck? Many people seek therapy when they are lacking energy or direction in some aspect of their life. Sometimes sadness won't leave. Or anxiety grows. Often past hurt and trauma interferes with daily life. Or it is difficult to negotiate one of life's transitions: finding or changing work life; partnering/marrying; moving/settling; separating/divorcing: birth; aging; illness and pain, or death of a loved one. Whatever the reason for seeking help we decide on the goals, charting a clear path for the journey to emotional health and greater satisfaction in life.

I don't shy away from bringing humor, play and creativity into the therapy process and enjoy interweaving experiential therapies like Jungian Sandtray Therapy (yes, for adults!) and nervous system based therapies like EMDR.
Whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I stand by the commitment, “I’m here with you.” I believe that each of our stories are equally sacred as they are unique and see therapy as an opportunity to cultivate curiosity for ourselves and to let go of self-judgement. Taking a Psychodynamic approach, I aim to help my clients unravel, experience, and understand themselves more deeply, through building awareness, flexibility, and the capacity to make change. Humor, authenticity, and the willingness to experiment is foundational to my approach.

I am trained in EMDR, body-based therapies, and creative arts therapy, which means we can work not only with your thoughts—but also with how experiences are held in your body and expressed in deeper, often nonverbal ways.
Healing is not a one-size-fits all, it's a deeply personal, creative and embodied process. You might feel overwhelmed, stuck in your thoughts, or disconnected from yourself. Burnout, past experiences, or life transitions can make it hard to feel grounded or move forward. I specialize working with women and the LQBTQIA community ages 20–45 who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, workplace stress, addiction, and major life changes. Whether you're feeling burnt out, questioning your path, or struggling in your relationships, therapy can help you reconnect with yourself and create meaningful change.

I integrate EMDR, IFS, mindfulness, breathwork, and somatic approaches to help you understand patterns, regulate your nervous system, and create space for meaningful change.
You may look like you’re holding it all together on the outside, but inside you notice familiar patterns repeating—especially in relationships, parenting, or how you relate to yourself. Perhaps you grew up learning to push your needs aside, stay strong, or keep moving forward no matter what. Now something in you is asking for a different way. Many of the people I work with feel ready to understand themselves more deeply and, at times, are open to meeting twice a week to support more focused therapeutic work.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
