I work with art, dreams, role play, child and adult "play" through imagery and story.
There have been times I couldn't help but cry with people and I couldn't help but laugh. Suffice it to say I will join you, once you feel comfortable, being creative about finding out how to be the most alive...how to tolerate and move effectively through pain...how to live from a place of ownership, passion, love...how to just be...human. In a fast-paced world where connection and meaning are forgotten, we cultivate a space for finding yourself. Go at your pace and take seriously your story and explore ways to make changes or even start to figure out what changes you may need in your life. Life is a process for us to see about.

I am open to incorporating creative and body-based tools such as writing, art, movement, play, music, or mindfulness.
I’m so glad you’re here. I know how tricky it can be to find a therapist. I support people who are experiencing anxiety and depression, navigating life transitions, or working toward greater well-being. Maybe you just became a new parent or are the parent of a teenager. You may be stuck in old patterns with your partner, your children, or your overall day-to-day. I listen deeply and build meaningful connections in order to help you understand yourself, your relationships, and your experiences more fully. We'll work together to get to the root of the problem, identify strengths and resources, and build skills for long term change.

Navigating challenges throughout life can be eased when we are open to support and make space to cultivate safety within ourselves, connect with our inherent strengths, and learn new skills. In wading through the confusion, hurt, and entrenchment that can arise from past harms or current obstacles, recognizing our innate wisdom and agency is vital in creating the positive change we seek. I am honored to work with adults, teens, and couples, creating space for mental health awareness and care rooted in mindfulness practices and the concept of emotional-intelligence as a set of skills that can be developed and strengthened.

There's something powerful about having a space where you can show up as your whole self, feel safe enough to be seen, and curiosity replaces judgement. Therapy with me is human, grounded, and focused on what matters to you. I work with adults, teens, kids and their families who are navigating grief, complex trauma, anxiety, relationships, parenthood, emotional regulation struggles and all the weight that comes with being invested in life. My style is warm and relational and I use humor when it fits, because sometimes levity can be its own form of healing. I aim to create space where feelings can emerge however they need to.

It’s said that recovery is an inside job. We begin by distancing ourselves from the destructive forces that are bent on killing us—if you understand what I’m talking about you’re in the right place. Once addiction loses its grip on us we gain the freedom to access our own inner wisdom and let life’s challenges become our teachers. Free from the influence of mood and mind altering substances we become empowered to make choices not based on the immediate need to escape our emotions, but rather aligned with our deepest desires for ourselves. Through this process you can begin to re-write the narrative of your past.

Discussing the challenges you've been through is a vulnerable place, but also one that can be full of growth and clarity. I work with children, teens, and adults dealing with some of life's big transitions. I utilize an integrative approach to create a safe, trauma informed space to build regulation and communication skills, and process trauma. I have a background in work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, college students, perinatal clients, children in foster care birth to 21. Trauma and transitions are each taxing in their own profound ways, but each can lead to change. I'm here to hold that space with you.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
