Molly is an art therapist that practices with a person-centered approach with an emphasis on empathy, compassion, and genuineness. I have treated numerous people who have been abused ranging: from
sexual abuse
to childhood abandonment; often prompting depressions and self-esteem issues.
Sometimes it is a struggle to face thoughts and feelings that you are having. Various events have happened to us in our life that continue to haunt us causing harmful and troubling feelings. These troubling feelings can feel shameful and unforgiveable. It helps to have a safe environment to talk.

My clients often struggle with relationship issues stemming from early childhood trauma; this results in coping mechanisms that work, but may carry a big price tag. They may grapple with
sexual abuse
, partner violence, sexual orientation and/ or disability related issues. Often, these manifest as substance abuse, cutting, communication problems or self- isolating behaviors. They may have friends and family members who do not truly "see" them, and as a result their own view of self is dim. Other clients are coping with situational anxiety and depression related to Covid, and need to establish safety, structure and hope.

We work with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, eating disorders, bereavement, BPD, autism, ADHD, addiction,
sexual abuse
, DV, medical illnesses, relationship problems, LGTBQ+, adjustment disorders and forensic cases.
Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities where confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

You are the expert in your life, and I am here to meet you where you are and walk alongside you in your process. I specialize in working with young people with trauma or complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks, and I have worked with many who have experienced sexual exploitation, sexual
assault
, intimate partner violence, and familial abuse.
I am a caring, eclectic, and nonjudgmental therapist who specializes in working with adolescents, ages 12-24. I come from a place of empowerment and am trained in CBT, DBT, talk therapy, motivational interviewing, and superhero therapy. I am also in the process of getting certified in TF-CBT. I start where the person I am working with is and get to know them! I try different things with clients and see what they like and don't like, and we go from there. I don't believe therapy is one-size-fits-all. I love helping young people work toward their goals and feel better about themselves!

I’m a non-judgmental, queer-empowering, anti-racist therapist dedicated to supporting those impacted by stress, depression, and emotional/physical/
sexual abuse
.
It takes true courage to share a story that contains a history of struggle or abuse. Have you found yourself overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed and want to better understand the triggers? Have you tried to ignore relationship or professional struggles in hopes they would eventually disappear? Have you reflected on past pain, and worry you are overreacting, won’t be believed, or are at fault? Perhaps you’ve achieved those goals related to wealth, fame and success, only to find your “perfect” life does not bring the satisfaction you anticipated. The old strategies no longer serve you, and now you need to try something new.

I specialize in working with Asian American adults and Children of Immigrants who struggle with unresolved trauma,
sexual abuse
, anxiety, and depression.
Most repeated traumas are relational traumas and therefore, it is so hard to heal without relationships. Unresolved trauma can often look like anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, substance use, and physical pain. These issues can be extremely distressing and isolating. I believe that change is possible for anyone and the good news is that it starts with just one question: "Could there be something better?".

Most of the clients I see have a history of trauma—physical or
sexual abuse
, neglect, or developmental trauma, which is the residue of dysfunctional caregiving. I believe strongly that people are naturally inclined to heal; our bodies and minds lean toward wholeness, even if it often feels like we can’t get there. While we go on with our day-to-day lives, acting as though everything is okay, the parts of us that were hurt—most often young parts—are still waiting and hoping for some kind of resolution to their pain. In therapy we look for those parts and take care of them; we nurture them and help them heal.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
