It’s never too early or late to make a change in your life. Anyone can get stuck at any age and different points, because life can be filled with all types of stressors: relationships, school, work, loss, and maybe unknown. If you match with the right therapist, change can happen, because it happened to me. I changed careers in my 40’s, to become a therapist, and thoroughly enjoy working with clients of all ages: adolescents, adults, and all the way up into late adulthood. People aren’t cookie cutter and therapy shouldn’t be either.

I hold an MA in trauma and crisis studies and am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Are you and your partner stuck in the same fights, feeling more like roommates than lovers? Maybe sex has become a source of stress rather than connection; desire differences, erectile dysfunction, or pain that keeps you apart. These struggles can feel isolating and shameful, but you're not broken. And you're not alone. I'm an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist and couples therapist who creates a warm, direct space where we tackle what's actually happening. I work with couples and individuals navigating sexual disconnection, ruts, desire mismatches, infidelity recovery, and couples who've drifted and want to find their way back.

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

We can often be our own worst critics, feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of “what if” scenarios that pop into our heads. Whether it shows up in our romantic relationships, academics, family dynamics, or in the workplace, anxiety can feel like an overprotective force in our heads that means well, but often latches onto perfectionism, urgency and control. For the past 8 years, it has been my privilege to work directly with clients from a variety of backgrounds to treat anxiety, depression, trauma and general life stress.

I work with men in their late teens to late 30s who feel emotionally disconnected or stuck despite appearing functional on the outside. Clinically and personally, I take my own maturation seriously, and that depth of engagement carries into the therapeutic work. Before becoming a therapist, I studied religious studies and ethnomusicology for years in India. I also owned and operated a sheep farm for five years in rural Tennessee. All these experiences led to me becoming the therapist I am today. Therapy isn't just my job, its my passion.

Making a choice to pursue therapy is a deeply courageous act, often taken during times of personal challenge or uncertainty. We often seek therapy during times of deep personal struggle or when we feel lost, and I know from personal experience how daunting it can be to ask for support in such vulnerable moments. That’s why I’m committed to offering compassionate, non-judgmental care—creating a space where you can safely explore areas of “stuckness” and begin to understand them in a meaningful way. In doing so, vulnerability can shift from something to fear into a powerful source of strength and growth.

Schema Therapy
How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy is based on the idea that maladaptive thought patterns formed in childhood—that other people can never be relied on, for example—can interfere with healthy functioning in adulthood. Accordingly, schema therapy works by directly targeting such unhealthy schemas, identifying their consequences, and replacing them with more adaptive ways of thinking. To this end, schema therapists aim to “reparent” the client by offering what they didn’t get in childhood—validation, for instance, or compassion—to reorient their worldview.

Is schema therapy evidence-based?
Schema therapy is still considered relatively new, and research on its efficacy is still in progress. However, some studies have concluded that it can be effective at treating certain mental health conditions, most notably personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder. Evidence for its efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD is promising but less conclusive, and experts warn that much of the existing research is of low quality.

Is schema therapy a type of CBT?
Schema therapy is based on many principles of CBT, most notably the process of recognizing and challenging maladaptive thought patterns. But because schema therapy also draws from other approaches, including psychoanalysis and Gestalt therapy, it is not considered a form of CBT. It also typically delves deeper into the client’s childhood than does CBT.

How does schema therapy work?
Schema therapy does not call for a set number of sessions and is instead open-ended, with the treatment timeline depending on the client’s primary concern(s), progress, and preferences. Treatment that lasts between six months and two years is common, though many clients will start to see progress much earlier than that.
