Therapy will be a space that is entirely yours. It's common to feel frustrated with our loved ones for not really hearing us. We're often given solutions to problems, instead of the space to explore what we're going through. There may even be feelings of burdening others when seeking out extra support or difficulty expressing exactly how you feel. Our work will center around deepening your understanding of yourself in a space that feels warm, safe, and judgment free.

If you are looking to give yourself grace, then you have found the right place! Together we'll explore what your issues, needs, and goals are and how to go about achieving them. Through no-nonsense warmth and humor, I'll assist you in identifying and confronting your bugaboos serving as a guide who accompanies and bears witness to your journey of re-discovery and reclamation. "Homework" runs the gamut and often includes journaling, artwork/crafting, bibliotherapy, practicing a new protocol, or just saying "no" without further elaboration.

My work exists at an intersection between East and West—Like my clients, who are often at their own intersections of past, present, and future,  I embrace integrating different treatment modalities that make sense for the individual— Even if it’s trauma that brings you to therapy, we don’t need to pathologize your suffering to find ways to heal. I consider myself part of a new generation of therapists providing a balance between holding that therapeutic space so that we feel seen, heard, and reminded that we aren’t alone, as well as providing feedback, processing, and developing skills needed to cope outside of sessions.

Everyone deserves mental health care and mental wellness is just as important as physical wellness. We often tend to forget this. As someone who grew up in an environment that did not particularly emphasize mental health, it is my mission to end the stigma that inhibits others in their ability to reach out for help. If you are here searching for the right fit, you’ve made a very big first step. Feel free to reach out for a 15 minute call/initial consultation. I offer telehealth making it easy for clients to access services and I see a wide range of clients for various issues including depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc.

Many people find themselves stuck in repetitive patterns of behavior and thinking that do not serve their well-being. Therapy helps to identify and examine these patterns in order to understand how and why they affect our sense of self, our moods, and our relationships in negative ways. Together we will uncover new ways of thinking and relating, and learn how to apply them in your life. The therapy room is a healing and safe space in which we can collaboratively explore the obstacles preventing you from fully achieving your life goals and break the painful patterns of relating to yourself and others.

I work with young adults and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, issues related to drugs or alcohol, and those recovering and healing from trauma. I have supported individuals in exploring their gender and sexuality and embrace non-binary, trans, and queer identities. I also specialize in perinatal, postpartum, and parental mental health. Many of my clients are mental health care providers themselves, who need clinical supervision or emotional support. My approach supports exploration of both the roots of emotions, behaviors, and patterns, while also talking about the here and now.

Human beings are often walking the fine line between trying to do the best they can and recognizing they might need or want to do better - choosing to do the work to explore the latter path is an act of strength and bravery. In therapy, we will work together to develop a trusting and caring relationship to help you navigate this path. We will collaborate in identifying and applying your strengths and values to support you in working through your concerns and moving toward living as your most grounded and authentic self. I have experience working with both teens and adults and welcome both to my practice.

Do you find yourself feeling confused, lost, or misunderstood in a world where the only constant is change? Are you having trouble opening up to the people around you out of fear of judgment? Asking for help can be difficult, but therapy can serve as the first step toward taking back your autonomy. Sometimes, to get what we need, we rely on the skills that have, out of habit, come to be like second nature. Our ability to get what we need does not always equate to using healthy mechanisms to do so. Together we can identify different aspects of your identity in order to replace any negative coping strategies.

It’s natural to feel unsure of who you are and where you want to be as you move into adulthood. You may experience anxiety or feel overwhelmed with new responsibilities. You might also feel depression is getting in the way of achieving your goals. Therapy is an opportunity to learn about yourself and how to navigate through the challenges of everyday life. I can help you gain coping skills to manage your emotions, discover ways to balance life stressors, and communicate effectively to build healthy relationships. How can I find a therapist in Brooklyn?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
