When you are physically ill you turn to your doctor, hoping they can help you feel better. Problems like depression, anxiety, impulsivity, uncontrollable anger, guilt, or low self-confidence can be as painful, if not more so, than physical illness; they can also create serious relationship and work difficulties. I have over 25 years of experience and I have helped many adults, adolescents, and couples who had received limited or no benefit from previous therapists, other doctors, or medications. I work well with people who are skeptical of, or intimidated by, talk therapy.

Many people seek therapy after spending years putting others' needs before their own while silently struggling with stress, trauma, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion. Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and life's challenges can make it difficult to feel connected, confident, or at peace. Therapy offers a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to explore emotions, gain insight into unhelpful patterns, and begin the healing process. Together, we focus on building self-worth, developing healthier coping skills, strengthening resilience, and creating a more balanced, meaningful, and fulfilling life.

As a bilingual therapist, I work to bring cultural competency and years of experience to our space. Are you an international college/grad student or an expat? Do you have unresolved trauma that still impacts how you navigate the world? I believe everyone possesses the ability and tools to thrive — sometimes they just need a safe, supportive space to find them. With a strengths-based and a trauma- informed approach, I help clients tap into resilience, break free from old narratives, and move forward with clarity and purpose.

Also, bringing in the healing quality of mindfulness practice can awaken and strengthen your natural intuition for self-compassion and self-care.
It takes a lot of courage to ask for help. All of us are trying the best we can. We get stuck sometimes too. Sometimes for a while. But we can always start again. I am licensed in NY and MA and accepting patients for telehealth sessions in both states. If you have been burdened with shame, worry, dread, unhappiness, you’re not alone and there’s not something wrong with you. I’m a psychologist with experience in trauma, relational, and cognitive-behavioral treatments. Collaboratively and compassionately, I help my clients heal and recover in different ways.

You might feel stuck in patterns you can’t quite explain – carrying stress, trauma, or self-doubt that shows up in your relationships, work, or body. Maybe you’re doing everything “right” but still feel disconnected, anxious, or unhappy. Parents I work with often feel confused, worried, or exhausted by their child’s big emotions or challenging behaviors and aren’t sure how to help. Whether you’re an adult healing from trauma or a parent navigating family stress, my goal is to help you begin healing, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and feel confident in your ability to handle what comes next.

I utilize a client centered approach calling upon mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and insight-focused approaches.
When life feels heavy, confusing or out of sync having the space to slow down and sort through what is happening can make a difference. Therapy can be a powerful tool in that process. Together we can build a space where you can explore your inner world, feel seen and understood, and gently challenge yourself to grow. We will collaborate to focus in on what matters most to you as we make sense of your experiences, navigate current stressors and build tools to help you feel more grounded and capable moving forward.

I incorporate evidence-based practices (like CBT, DBT, and IFS), mindfulness techniques, and a focus on the mind-body connection to help you find greater balance and ease.
Do you feel overwhelmed by anxiety, self-doubt, or the stress of life’s changes? Maybe you’re stuck in your head—overthinking conversations, second-guessing yourself, or feeling disconnected from the people and things that matter most. Whether you’re navigating relationship challenges, building self-esteem, or adjusting to something new, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I help people untangle the thoughts and emotions that hold them back, so they can feel more grounded, confident, and at ease.

I believe in having my own personal practice, I bring over 20 years of personal mindfulness practice base in compassion and loving kindness.
My ideal client is an individual who desires inner peace and is willing to do the work on themselves to achieve their highest potential. A client who is longing for experiencing a life free of sorrow, anger, depression, anxiety and self-rejection for a life of letting go and self-acceptance. A client that is willing to look within rather than to their sorroundings for the keys to their inner freedom. Most often these changes can only happen in an evironment that offers safety, compassion and understanding, a non-judgemental space where one can be heard and one can feel accepted.

Taking the first steps towards treatment can often seem intimidating and overwhelming; we’re not sure what we’re getting ourselves into or if we’re even ready to make a change.  I find that a compassionate and empathetic manner, coupled with a sense of humor, is the most effective way to make sure that you feel heard. Therapy should always be about your own individual process and the unique set of circumstances that have led you to treatment. We’ll work together to address any concerns that you might have, and do so at a pace that you’re comfortable with.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
