I am most passionate about working with individuals who feel uneasy about their relationship dynamics and want to move toward creating healthy connections. We can work together to better understand your patterns and help you gain a greater sense of control. I also enjoy working with those going through major life transitions, struggling with all the normal questions of “what parts of myself am I leaving behind?” and “how do I know I’m on the right track?”

My practice is dedicated to creating a safe environment in which clients feel understood, respected and challenged. This allows us to dig deeper into what isn’t feeling right inside and to uncover greater capacity to deepen your connection to yourself and others. I use a holistic and experiential approach to therapy based in attachment, psychodynamic and body based practices. I take in the entirety of you, and make meaning of historical wounds that have kept you from living out your desires- a life of more ease. This allows you to take risks, to know what you need, and to find new ways of approaching your experiences and patterns.

Psychotherapy offers us the opportunity to have the support we need to examine those areas of our lives we find painful, confusing, and/or challenging. It is common for all of us from time to time to feel "stuck" in our lives, or faced with problems that we cannot seem to overcome. My goal is to help my clients access their internal and interpersonal resources in ways that are healing and help them gain a greater sense of personal agency in their lives. We may achieve this by exploring the past, looking at the present, or a combination of both.

People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes we keep repeating behaviors we know hurt us and those around us but cannot seem to stop. Sometimes we need a new perspective to get us back on track. Talking things out in a safe space with an empathic listener can be life changing. I believe therapy should be a collaborative partnership where we spend time building trust with one another and tailoring treatment to your specific needs. I am direct but kind, curious but patient, and always open to feedback from my clients.

Your child or teen is struggling and you are not sure what to do. The once happy child you knew seems to no longer be there, and you so desperately want them to be able to be happy again. You are seeing your child’s distress come out in the form of anger, avoidance or extreme emotions, and you know there must be a lot happening inside them that they need to express. Your child may have gone through significant life transitions, loss, or distress, and you want them to be able to process these events now so the impact doesn’t linger into adulthood. You want what is best for your child and to help them find a way back to who they are.

I'm accepting adult, teen, and couple clients. Therapy gives us a safe relationship where we can explore our inner world and consider taking new risks in our outer one. To my mind, therapy is the process of talking things over with someone and, together, giving meaning, hope, and clarity to pain, confusion, or stuckness. I endeavor to bring respect and curiosity to our work together. I believe that we each have the wisdom to solve our problems, but our strengths get blocked when we experience trauma, or linger in negative cycles with loved ones. In our work together, I aim to help you reconnect with your innate ability to thrive.

At this time, I am only accepting new clients through YellowChair Collective. Would love to see if this is a good fit. This is a particularly hard journey to go on for therapy Your thoughts and feelings are unique and precious. If you're feeling "stuck", burdened or in a frustrating relationship, I would like to help you connect with yourself through self awareness and exploring those feelings together. Once you talk about those difficult things, it will allow you to connect with your own emotions and heal what feels broken. Hope is what you need.

Hi there, I'm happy you're here. I focus my work on helping women navigate the landscapes of emerging adulthood. Emerging adulthood is the part of life when you go, “Wait.. who am I and what am I doing?” This time in life can be confusing and daunting, as you are expected to manage friendships, relationships, work, family, future planning, and city life, all while trying to figure out who the heck you are. Take a breath– you don’t have to do it alone.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
