An example of how I work with patients. A patient realizes that they are feeling unheard, isolated, anxious, and depressed. This patient feels hopeless. Additionally, they are grieving a recent loss. I offer this patient a compassionate interpersonal connection while understanding that they feel easily rejected. Over time their goals were met, self-esteem enhanced, they now enjoy healthy relationships, they feel they have a purpose and a healing grieving path to follow. Trust, mutual respect and a sense of hope emerged through this therapeutic relationship and created a safe space for this therapuetic work.

You might struggle with perfectionism, avoidance, people pleasing, or social anxiety, often shaped by early family dynamics, including emotionally immature or narcissistic caregivers.
I specialize in working with young adults and professionals who want both practical tools and deeper insight. I integrate CBT and DBT strategies with an insight oriented and relational approach. I bring over a decade of experience working with adults in therapy, helping clients reduce anxiety while understanding persistent emotional and relational patterns.

I welcome partnerships and families of all types, especially queer, trans and GNC folks.
Relationships are not easy. We all bring pain and patterns from the past into our current relationships, making them feel loaded, tense, and stuck at times. It can be overwhelming trying to navigate strong emotions, betrayals, challenging life events, or just everyday disagreements. But with awareness and understanding we can let go of the constraints of the past and make changes in our interpersonal lives.

I have also worked with people who have struggled with gender identity, sexuality, family conflict, and relationship issues.
My warmth and genuineness as a therapist create a unique connection with my clients, making them feel truly seen and valued. Other therapists may take a “blank slate” approach, but I find that showing up authentically as myself creates a safe, non-judgmental space that allows clients to show their own personalities and explore their emotions freely.

This work led to my focus on family /domestic violence and trauma in which I have extensive training.
It’s 8 p.m., and you’re just leaving the office – again. You’re tired of being the last one in the building while still feeling like you have to prove yourself. It’s exhausting. The pressure builds every day: the subtle racial dynamics, the comments you swallow, the worry that any misstep will confirm what others already assume. You push harder, work weekends, scroll late into the night, and call it “rest.” Your body protests with tension in your chest and stomach each morning, yet you keep going. At home, you snap without meaning to, then drown in guilt. You’re running on fumes, wondering how long you can keep this pace

Change - whether it is personal, professional, environmental - is the one constant in everyone's life and also the one thing we fear most. It is even more difficult adapting to change that is forced upon us. We often feel alone, vulnerable and unmoored in these moments of transition. As a therapist, I want to assist my clients in tapping into their inner wellspring of resilience and guide them through these challenging life phases; I have experience working with a variety of individuals /concerns/issues, such as LGBTQIA+, veterans, couples, anxiety, depression, stage of life transition and those struggling with identity issues.

Family Therapy Therapists
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
