Whatever problem you are facing today: anxiety, depression, disturbing relationship, or work related stress - I am here to help you facilitate changes that will allow you to reach your goals.

Life is filled with obstacles that have to be negotiated on a daily basis in order for us to move forward. I've helped adolescents, adults and couples do this by working through- and in developing coping strategies to use in addressing- many issues, including low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, related mood disorders, addiction, loss, grief, severe mental illness, trauma,
family
conflict and uncertainty about a direction in life. Through 'straight'- honest- talk, deep reflection, exploration, identification and acknowledgement of the problem, I can help you develop effective ways to 'free up' the oftentimes fixed and toxic self-perceptions that may be holding you back.

Therapy is an opportunity for you to work on developing how "you want the next chapter of your life to read". I have over twenty years of experience in working with people to help them work through many different issues in their lives, both from their past and/or their present. It is very important to understand the stress that a person is experiencing and develop positive skills to decrease and manage the stress. I work with individuals to create a positive plan to master these skills.

Let's Talk w/ Rev. Dr. DLC Boyce, helps those who have found themselves stuck - disconnected from God. It's designed for those who have been unable to achieve goals in their lives; for individuals/ couples/families/groups, who feel they have been wounded by crisis/ situations/circumstances -- by people, institutions within society or by society itself. It is also designed for those who've, seemingly, sabotaged themselves, and, as a result, have been prevented from taking advantage of opportunities.

"No one is immune... No matter what precautions we take, no matter how well we put together a good life...something will inevitably ruin it. Human life is fatally fragile and subject to forces beyond our power to manage. Life is tragic." -T. Keller We cannot protect ourselves from the negative aspects of life no matter how hard we try, but we can be there for one another. My goal is to help individuals navigate the difficulties they encounter in life, by guiding them as they develop strategies and skills that will enable them to live a more satisfying life.

Perhaps you feel like you don't fit in or are struggling to figure out who you are or what is important to you. Or something, either concrete or intangible, isn't working in your life or just feels "off." Perhaps you are sad, anxious, struggling with a loss, infertility, chronic illness, or having difficulty with a
family
situation or relationship. I provide a compassionate and safe space to explore these challenges, allowing you to focus on what gives your life purpose and meaning. We will work on two levels- gaining insight, while also learning tools and strategies to reduce your pain.

I’ve been trained in psychodynamic,
family
systems and cognitive behviaoral therapies and call upon all of these modalities depending on the needs of the client.
Being human is a wondrous and challenging endeavor. Most of us walk around each day feeling inadequate, lost, anxious or depressed. And yet something inside us yearns for more. It takes tremendous courage to slow down and listen to this voice. To turn towards the painful feelings and try to understand them. I believe that with the right support, the hard stuff is actually the gateway to a life that is more purposeful, meaningful, integrated and peace-filled. In my office I create a warm and engaging space for clients to build self-awareness, heal old wounds and reflect on patterns that may not be helping them.

At the heart of all significant issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and loss are relationships. Therefore, change must also occur within a relationship and therapy is a unique one which provides the safety, trust and honesty, to foster growth. As your therapist, I am fully present for you, in a way that even the best intentioned friend or
family
member may not be, because I do not have an agenda, and I am invested in the decisions you make to improve your quality of life.

family
conflict, marital and premarital issues, and stress management.
Life is unpredictable. You take one step forward and it pushes you two steps backwards. You jump up and gravity pulls you down. But rather than stepping in opposition of the forces of life, why not step in sync with it? Learn to dance and move to the rhythm of life. My clients learn to become mentally flexible so that they can maintain their peace as they dip, swing and dance to whatever beat life throws their way.

I am a private practitioner who has worked with children, teens and young adults in New York City for the past 10 years. Feeling heard and supported and being understood by your therapist is a critical component of mental health care. I provide compassionate and empathic care to children, teens and young adults. My clients come to me with anxiety and depressive symptoms,
family
dynamics issues and often while in the midst of a transition. Clients who have completed treatment leave with new coping skills, a renewed sense of confidence and fresh perspectives on their lives.

My practice includes individual therapy with children and teens, parent coaching, and
family therapy
.
As a parent of a struggling child or teen, do you often find yourself wondering what you can do to help them feel better? Do they wrestle with daily stressors (school and homework pressure,
family
/peer issues, self-image, COVID-19 fears) and emotional issues ? Parents often feel that they have run out of ideas of how to help. They just want their child to thrive. I have helped children and teens that were struggling with anxiety disorders, self-regulation, low self-esteem, body image concerns, and anger issues. I work with parents to help them develop strategies to help their children as their needs change over the years.

family
dynamics, trauma, and perinatal mental health.
You're the expert in your life. I want to help you explore and expand your sense of calm and empowerment, addressing your physical, spiritual, emotional, philosophical, and social parts. I recognize the importance of acknowledging the past and finding ways to feel more alive in the present. Much of our energy is spent focusing on reacting to external stimulation and making plans for the future. I am here to help cultivate a space and time to listen to and focus on inner experiences, which is mission-critical in changing how we relate to ourselves and the world.

I am committed to co-creating a soft, genuine, relational space for my clients to get to know their inner systems. I have a graduate degree in Social Work, and I am trained in Internal
Family
Systems (IFS). I have been engaged with the IFS model for over eight years, and it is the primary model I use for psychotherapeutic work. I have assisted as a staff member on three Level 1 IFS trainings, helping other therapists and practitioners learn the model.

My work focuses on how one's
family
dynamics and past are affecting one's current life.
Through both my psychoanalytic training and my training as a creative arts therapist, I treat each person as an individual and we come up with a treatment plan together. My patients are often dealing with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, identity formation, trauma, and attachment issues. My view of therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to help you increase your self-esteem, have a greater understanding of yourself, and be able to have healthy and long-lasting friendships and romantic relationships.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
