I particularly enjoy working with Couples , using Gottman's methodology and Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), which bring great results and help couples improve their communication skills, resolve issues, but most importantly repair their relationship and love again.
Experienced, compassionate, and empathetic, are words that my clients use to describe me as their therapist. Since 2009, I have helped thousands of my clients and created a center to serve our Brooklyn Community to receive help and provide excellence of psychological care. As a healer in my profession, I guide, and help clients healtheir lives each day. My clients appreciate my sincerity, sense of humor, compassion, analytical skills, and effectiveness of therapeutic techniques, which I continue to hone as a trained therapist. I currently do not accept new clients but we have other therapists with availability at our center.

Therapy is a relationship that should feel positive and affirming.
Examining thoughts, feelings, and emotions connected to old patterns is a path that leads to self-discovery and understanding of current functioning. I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 9 years of experience in the field. My work spans across different developmental stages from adolescence to late adulthood, including group therapy work and couples therapy. Likely, the hardest part is beginning to understand why things really aren't working- I work with clients in a clear, approachable manner, so we can pinpoint the root causes and create a goal-oriented framework for progress.

Working with couples over the last decade, I’ve developed a unique approach called “Mindful Communication.” It combines the most powerful communication tools of Imago, EFT, Gestalt, and a technique called Circling. In our first few sessions, I take you through the top ten blocks to intimacy I created for you to spot where you’re stuck. Then we review the Ground Rules - 10 dos and don’ts in your conversations going forward so you get on the same page about what’s acceptable and what’s not in how you talk to each other. Once we have this solid foundation, I coach you through real time conversations to make you expert communicators.

I specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and life transitions.
The decision to see a therapist is one of the most important ones you can make, because it means you have decided to change the course of your emotional life. All humans are wired to feel emotions deeply, and sometimes we can be overwhelmed by their power. I understand how difficult it can be to live with depression or anxiety, and I want you to know that you are not alone in your struggles. These are common and treatable conditions that can significantly impact your daily life and well-being. It takes a lot of courage to seek therapy, and I am here to support you and help you find relief from your symptoms.

My aim as a mental health counselor is to create an empathetic and curiosity-driven environment for clients’ to pursue and explore growth, well-being, and authenticity. I strive to create an LGBTQIA+-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and culturally-informed environment where clients can experience connection and compassion in the therapeutic relationship and with themselves. Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
