Hello and welcome to my profile. By now I would assume that you've read several profiles on the "Psychology Today" site and by this point they are probably all sounding astonishingly similar. That's got to be frustrating. I hope that the following information concerning my practice doesn't have the same effect. Let me be brief: I work with a multitude of issues and problems that relate to: couples, anxiety, depression and anger management. I also work with addictions including eating disorders. My approach can help you work through unconscious conflict (repeating patterns again and again without understanding why) as well as compulsive behaviors such as drinking, thought ruminating and habitual behaviors that are difficult to control.I can help you 'evolve' out of your particular problem. I am supportive and reality based while I can always find humor in the worst and the best of times. Together we can turn this all around and get you to where you want to be.

You’ve been doing so well. Enjoying life, being productive, connecting with family and friends. Then, out of nowhere, it crept back in—that familiar feeling of numb emptiness. You can feel your worldview narrowing and your emotions shutting down, and it scares you. You’ve worked so hard to move past this and truly believed you were getting better. Eating well, exercising, meditating, and sleeping more. And then here comes this reminder that all the self-care in the world isn’t enough to help you move past this. Hopelessness is setting in. You know there must be a better way to live, but you simply don’t know how to achieve it.

This work tends to resonate with people who are ready to face themselves with honesty and compassion. Many have already done extensive insight-oriented or intellectual work, yet sense that real change and transformation ask for attunement to the body, emotions, and energetic responses, not just the mind (although it is our ally). If there is a readiness or curiosity to get intimate with the nervous system, learn tools that cultivate a felt sense of safety from within, and use that internal guidance and wisdom to move forward with greater clarity and trust, this work may be a meaningful fit.

With advanced training in Gestalt Therapy, I work experientially and relationally; often working individually with creatively-inclined adults.
Life transitions can be painful. When we feel sadness or anxiety, we may feel empty and alone, often leading to further distance and lack of connection. Building inner capacity allows for openness and movement towards a better relationship with ourselves and others, in turn, creating long term resilience and self-awareness. I believe that if you are open to this kind of exploration in therapy, I can help you. Working through an anti-oppressive, empowerment lens, I will meet you in the moment, work creatively to bring light to ongoing patterns, and work collaboratively with you- as you are.

My expertise lies in interpersonal trauma, developmental trauma, and Complex PTSD; attachment wounds and relationship struggles; recovery from narcissistic abuse; adult children of emotionally immature parents and dysfunctional families; gender and sexuality; identity and spiritual exploration; grief.
I am a Feminist Experiential Depth psychotherapist. I specialize in trauma resolution, attachment wounds, identity, grief support, and coming into one's own. I support my clients in an “individuation of the heart, that opens one to qualities of life and levels of consciousness previously unknown.” My life’s work is to midwife the unborn in the born—to continuously birth new expressions of Self that are authentic, integrated, and empowered. The “midwifery tools” I work with to facilitate this “birth after birth” are: Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Feminist Therapy, Depth Psychology, and Interpersonal Neurobiology.

I believe every person’s journey is unique, and therapy should reflect that. When treating OCD and anxiety, my goal is to respect your individuality while providing the support and understanding you need. You don’t have to face this alone—I’ll walk beside you as we use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help you reconnect with yourself and your goals. I’m genuinely excited to help you take meaningful steps forward. In addition to OCD, I also treat anxiety, depression, and ADHD.

My ideal client might feel stuck in patterns in their relationships, anxiety, trauma, or emotional distress, and struggling with childhood attachment wounds. They seek a supportive space to heal, build resilience, and develop coping skills. I believe the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. We heal through skills and evidence based treatment, and we also heal through relationship. We will explore relationship dynamics both in and outside the session. Through a compassionate, client-centered approach, I help you reconnect to yourself and the world around you.

FAQ - About Adult Counseling
Why should adults see a therapist?
Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioral therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication. Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?
When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder. It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists hold various licenses depending on their training and state requirements. Common therapy credentials include Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). Psychologists (PhD or PsyD) receive additional doctoral-level training and may focus on assessments or more specialized therapeutic approaches. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?
Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
