My work integrates Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) with psychodynamic, attachment-based and
trauma
-centered approaches.
We all have the capacity to heal. With the right safety and support, we can come home to ourselves, allow difficult emotions to be released, and re-author old stories to create new meaning in our lives. I use experiential therapy to help you move through barriers so you can arrive into your body with compassion and connection. From this place, we can explore your relationship to self and others, come to understand patterns that create stuckness, and practice new skills so you can embody insights, change and self-belonging.

I believe that a trusting therapist-patient relationship is key to helping you achieve the growth and change you are looking for. We will work together to identify your own unique goals for therapy, help you access and use your individual strengths, and navigate the challenges that might be getting in your way.

I pursued a career in psychotherapy due to my interest in how psychology and gaining perspective can improve one's quality of life. My training includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, child therapy, EMDR (an effective technique for dealing with
trauma
), hypnosis, mindfulness, stress reduction, and play and art therapy techniques.
I provide a safe, welcoming place to bring your thoughts and feelings, inner conflicts and concerns and your hopes for change. I work with clients to create the conditions for greater self-acceptance, ease, and self-agency. I often work with creative or sensitive people, and with those recovering from complex
trauma
, addiction, and family-of-origin wounds that may cause depression, stuckness, or disconnection. I believe in the liberating process of creating space for grief, sorrow, anger, humor and joy as a means to support growth, healing, and change. I work with clients in a highly experiential way, honoring the wisdom of the body and language of the soul. I believe that building and creating one's life is more powerful than attempting to "fix" oneself.

However, I have found that incorporating art, somatic awareness, mindfulness practices and dreams can be powerful ways to deepen the process, integrate unresolved
trauma
, and develop new insights and resources for living in alignment with your most authentic self.
I approach therapy from the perspective that healing comes through the caring and dynamic engagement created between two people. Our time together will be a collaboration that encourages mutual presence, relatedness and commitment. Research confirms the importance of this. While no specific technique is consistently effective in eliciting change, certain therapists who bring a particular quality to their work often are. I believe I am such a therapist and my clients consistently report feeling met, nurtured, and empowered by the work we do together.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
