Fighting life’s many challenges can feel like a never ending battle, especially when feelings of hopelessness and frustration take over. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck, or misunderstood or maybe you just want someone to talk to who listens and understands. You’re probably sick and tired of having to be “strong” all the time, and it’s left you feeling drained. You deserve to be heard—to be validated—to be seen.

I encourage you to get comfortable with discomfort by building resilience together. I know that therapy can be both draining and uplifting. It requires you to open up in ways that can be painful but it's a process you don’t have to do alone. I will challenge you to restructure core beliefs and unlock hidden strengths. Together, we will navigate transitional moments in life, such as relationship conflicts, career issues, and complex family dynamics. My goal as a therapist is to work with individuals from all backgrounds experiencing trauma from systems of power. My therapeutic style is supportive, honest and collaborative.

In my over 20 plus years of training, studying, writing, thinking, theorizing, and practicing psychotherapy, I’ve come to understand that the experience of feeling deeply seen, heard and listened to is what facilitates change in us and in our relationships. This may sound simple, but for many of us these seemingly basic human tenants have not been upheld. The process of learning to locate oneself for oneself can be a complex undertaking. It is a unique experience for each individual evolving over time and trust. I have a deep belief in the powerful shifts that this process can bring to our lived experience.

I embrace a warm, practical, and collaborative approach to psychotherapy, adapting treatment to the needs of each person. I believe that the present is informed yet not fully determined by our past, and that we all aspire to healing, wellness, and ongoing growth. I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, and life transitions. I aim to encourage clients to work through unexamined unhealthy patterns, uncomfortable or scary thoughts and feelings, unwanted behaviors, challenging situations and relationships. I work from an anti-oppressive, relational, and trauma-focused lens.

Augusta is an empathic practitioner who is passionate about helping clients to grow as individuals, while improving their emotional and physical well-being. As with most healers, she came to psychotherapy by way of seeking change, and has a first hand understanding of what it feels like to need guidance and support. When working with clients, she relies on an integration of methods tailored to meet the needs of the client she is working with. She prefers a holistic framework focusing on the interconnectedness of our minds and body using a combination of psychodynamic, CBT, DBT and mindfulness-related yoga/Buddhist interventions.

People seek therapy when they are feeling overwhelmed and when their usual coping skills aren't working. Maybe you're feeling stuck in your work life or relationships, or struggling to find a sense of well being. These difficulties can lead to symptoms of depression, anxiety and addictions, to name a few. I envision therapy as a space where two people can focus together on whatever is causing you pain. I believe this process can lead to greater self-awareness, effectiveness, and personal freedom, as your choices become more conscious and your sense of self deepens.

I believe that the best therapy holds up a mirror to help us see what we could not on our own. These moments of understanding are the building blocks of change. My goal as a therapist is to help create an awareness of patterns that are holding you back and find ways of moving forward through a collaborative treatment plan.

If you are ready to explore the cornerstones of existence (love/family/work/sex/spirituality) with the goal of working on healthier relationships both to oneself and with others, you are in the right place. I utilize evidence-based techniques, particularly somatic and mindfulness-based interventions, on a foundation of attachment-oriented psychodynamic theory to curate a therapeutic experience worthy of your unique story. To those considering beginning their therapy journey, I understand it can feel like a daunting commitment. It is my mission to create a meaningful, interesting and collaborative environment that meets a client where they are and shows them that they have the capacity for meaningful change. Shift in perspective is crucial to an evolving sense of self. I believe in the power of culture, myth, laughter and metaphor to explore a client's issues. I draw from Jungian, Humanistic and Existential theory and believe therapy is a creative as well as healing enterprise.

Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
