In my work with children with developmental challenges, I use a relational developmental approach that focuses on engaging the child and understanding the child 's individual profile.
I specialize in working with children that are experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and trauma, as well as children on autistic spectrum. My treatment approach is integrative and use different therapy modalities to best fit the child and family. I also work with parents to understand how their child 's behaviors are impacting the family with a goal of providing parents with strategies to support their day-to-day routines. I do not treat only the "symptoms" but look for the underlying challenges in order to help long term.

My approach targets a lot of inner child work.
Every client is different and I believe that the healing process should be a collaborative one between therapist and client, one where the client feels empowered to be an active participant in the change that they seek for themselves. Progress looks like a client being able to not only be more self-aware of themselves but amenable of how they respond to triggers that, in the past, would have elicited a very different reaction. An ideal client is one that is willing to be their own change agent. My role is to not serve as their fairy godmother waving a wand, but rather an accountability partner and guide on their therapeutic journey.

My background includes working with children in crisis, mental disabilities as well as addiction counseling.
As a therapist I first begin by meeting my clients where they are. My second aim is to understand the client as a whole and not just their diagnosis/issue. I don't focus on the diagnoses/issues, i like to assist my clients in being the best version of themselves. I believe that everyone is an individual, even in sharing the same diagnosis or life issues, I strive to treat every client as an individual when treating. It sometimes can be challenging to find a therapist you trust as well as connect with. I strive to always keep an open mind as well as show empathy.

Life is hard when there is too much unhappiness, worry, anger or frustration. I treat children , adolescents and adults who are stuck in patterns that keep them from feeling happy, peaceful and healthy.

Destigmatizing mental health is one of the biggest challenges we face in todays society. Many individuals are reluctant to seek treatment due to fear of how they may be perceived by their family, friends, and/or any person that plays a significant role in their life. Negative thinking and negative emotions combined with daily stressors is almost certain to lead you down an unhealthy path.

Child Therapists

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
