I specialize in supporting people as they navigate the impact of trauma , stress, loss, and life transitions. Our minds and bodies can react to life’s stressors in a range of ways, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. We all rely on methods of coping with these painful emotional experiences that, over time, may become more harmful than helpful. Our work will help you better understand the source of these struggles and put you on a path towards the health, happiness, and fulfillment that you deeply deserve.

There is support for you in your parental journey and in my private practice we will work together to address your mood, build support, address trauma , identify your strengths, and develop skills to help you bring about lasting change as a parent, a partner and a person.
Being a first time parent is full of joy and expectation, however it can also be full of anxiety and overwhelming feelings. Unexpected NICU stays, traumatic birth, abortion, and miscarriages can leave deep emotional scars and anxiety about the future. How to address discipline, teenage transitions, empty nesting, can be challenging. Whether it is your first child or fifth child all parents want to be the best possible parent(s) for their children. I am here to support you throughout the life span of your parenting journey, from pre-natal, post-partum, and the many years in-between to adulthood.

I specialize in PTSD & C- PTSD , Intergenerational trauma and racial, religious and immigration identity issues.
Dealing with your own pain while trying to engage fully in your life can prove to be an overwhelming task. It can leave you feeling lonely, isolated and without hope of a life beyond your painful feelings and experiences. The people I work with often struggle navigating through racial and religious identity issues while also trying to manage intense and difficult emotions. They can find it hard to deal with behaviors or thoughts that negatively impact their lives. They often want a chance to recognize, address and heal from the root of these emotions in the hopes of gaining control of their lives.

I believe in promoting social justice by exploring trauma , oppression, and diversity and their impact on life's journey.
Searching for the right therapist is sort of like dating. In order to find the right fit, you may need to search around in order to get a feel for who is out there. I believe the power of therapy evolves from a non-judgmental space where people can finally experience, not only feeling seen and heard, but eventually, accepted and understood. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of New York City. I earned a BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Social Work from New York University and hold a specialization in Trauma Studies from the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy.

If any of this resonates with you, then you have made the right choice by considering therapy. I believe that the therapeutic process can be beneficial when there is warmth, compassion, and collaboration. My goal is to foster an environment that can allow you to explore, heal, and grow.

I'm an integrative psychotherapist primarily practicing EMDR with a focus on trauma / PTSD , severe mental illness and other emotional distress, including experiences related to racial identity and sexual orientation. I'm curious about you; there is no judgment about your past, your perceptions, or your feelings. My foundation is in trauma work & attachment theory, where we look at relationships and experiences and how they may affect you today: the social and cultural settings we're in, how the way we identify ourselves and the way others identify us impacts your sense of safety, how we are perceived, and what opportunities we have.

Hello! I am a Social Worker of 14 years and started clinical social work practice 9 years ago. I have extensive training and experience in the treatment of Substance Use Disorders, Trauma , Depression, Anxiety, and other mood-related issues. I take a somatic approach to psychotherapy to understand how the past might be intruding in your life now, not to dwell, rather so you can leave it behind to be free to live your life now. I utilize a harm reduction approach, supporting you to make a decision about your goals for substance use and other behaviors-whether that's completely stopping a behavior or reducing.

I have been working for over fifteen years with people facing a wide variety of life situations, including issues related to anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, trauma , and identity.
Whether you're feeling depressed, anxious, hopeless, or lost, making that first call for help can often be hard. You desperately want to feel better, but you may be afraid of what it will be like to share your thoughts with a therapist. I understand. My guiding principles are respect, appreciation of differences, and a balance between acceptance and change. I listen carefully and center the therapy around your needs. Through a truly mutual collaboration, we can find ways to solve problems and create healing.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
