My client relationships are very special to me. I look forward to learning who my clients are and exploring their thoughts, feelings, fears and dreams. My therapeutic goals do not involve “fixing” you. I sit with you through suffering, doubt, and insecurity. I celebrate your resilience, growing self-acceptance and milestones. I affirm and validate who you are, trusting your expert insight on yourself. I offer a caring therapist’s perspective and interpretation. My clients tend to be creative and/or analytical individuals who appreciate my approach to therapy as an art rather than a science.

It is a courageous move to seek help. I tailor my approach to meet the needs of the individual or couple. I have experience with a diverse set of clients and a variety of interventions. From a non-judgmental stance, using a holistic and client-centered approach I aim to explore patterns of thought or behavior that cause pain, shame, stress, anxiety and sadness. I assist in in exploring the roots of internalized negative messages, and to develop techniques to combat those negative beliefs; to enhance self-esteem and self-worth, build strong relationships, establish boundaries and clear hurdles that feel insurmountable.

Welcome! I'm Natalie, a psychotherapist working with adolescents and adults who are navigating relationships, dealing with self-esteem issues, and are searching for more meaning in their lives. I work well with young, creative professionals who are eager to learn about themselves, address undesired patterns, and who are looking for support in piecing things together. While anxiety, depression and relational conflicts are very common, it doesn't make them any easier to navigate. Understanding the root cause of these issues can help us find relief from symptoms and help us build a foundation of compassion and understanding.

As a parent of a struggling child or teen, do you often find yourself wondering what you can do to help them feel better? Do they wrestle with daily stressors (school and homework pressure, family/peer issues, self-image, COVID-19 fears) and emotional issues ? Parents often feel that they have run out of ideas of how to help. They just want their child to thrive. I have helped children and teens that were struggling with anxiety disorders, self-regulation, low self-esteem, body image concerns, and anger issues. I work with parents to help them develop strategies to help their children as their needs change over the years.

As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT), I believe that creativity is essential to the journey towards self-discovery and transformation. Through the lens of story, role, and metaphor I like to explore patterns that may no longer be serving you, while highlighting the parts of self that are adaptive. I specialize in the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, people who have infertility challenges, relationship issues, and adolescents/young adults who's self-esteem has been impacted by learning challenges and other life obstacles. I work from an anti- oppressive and trauma informed lens.

Life can feel overwhelming these days, and meaningful relationships, joys and values can be hard to sustain. The coping patterns we adopt often get in the way of feeling better, and connected with others. My practice fosters an empathetic environment where clients are at ease exploring emotions and concerns. Collaboratively, we address issues such as anxiety, depression and self-esteem struggles, and tackle problems such as relationship difficulties, life transitions, loss and work-related stressors. Jointly, we will define concrete goals, develop real-life coping skills and become more aware of underlying barriers to well-being.

Hi I am Danielle! I see therapy as a path to self-discovery where you can cultivate self-compassion, self-acceptance, and a flexible mindset. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space for all individuals to understand their inner world more deeply. My approach is primarily rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, but I also integrate elements of relational-psychodynamic therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy in order to help you to reach your therapeutic goals. I have particular experience working with college students who struggle with performance anxiety while navigating a world fixated on achievement.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
