With a background of interest in psychology, psychodynamic theory, and Jungian thought, I chose Gestalt Therapy as the focus for my post-graduate training.
You have my attention. I provide a warm and accepting space in which to learn, heal, experience and discover. Together, we will identify barriers to accessing your fullness, develop awareness of their form and function, and apply our natural creativity to finding new, satisfying ways of living. I seek to engage the total intelligence of your being, encouraging your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and intuitions to be resources rather than enemies. My relational therapeutic approach is hinged on the value of the here-and-now as the time-and-place to be.

Our lives can lead us to feel lost, self-doubting, stuck, or confused about ourselves and our relationships. Often career dissatisfaction, lack of alignment with your purpose, compromising yourself in relationships, lacking clear boundaries, or fixation on the past go hand in hand. I will work with you to understand how you got here. We will work holistically to delve into past experiences, especially those that are unresolved or traumatic, and to explore how they have shaped you and may still be impacting you. From here, we can examine your relationships, your goals, and identify solutions.

My practice is centered around the idea that everyone has a story to tell, and that by sharing and thinking about the constitutive elements of these stories they can reach the understanding of themselves they've been looking for. The goal of therapy is to make the unconscious conscious, as Freud said, and by looking at the narrative of your life we can create a framework for understanding how the issues you face have come about, and how you can address them in order to lead a fuller, more mindful and meaningful life.

Are you in a relationship that is bringing you down? Do you feel stuck and don’t know what to do for the best? Perhaps you’re not currently in a relationship, but you want to be. You may have a history of dysfunctional relationships and are ready to break the pattern. My role is to help you to uncover potential reasons for struggles and breakdowns in relationships. It can be tough to look so closely at our experiences and the associated feelings. At the same time, it can be one of the most beneficial things that we can do for ourselves.

I am a mindfulness-based, existential psychotherapist located in Brooklyn, New York. My ideal client is someone who is interested in an alternative to Western psychology and has some interest or experience in Eastern thought or spirituality. If you are hungry for personal growth and willing to work at it, the breakthrough you're seeking is within reach. At Brooklyn Somatic Therapy, we integrate a mindfulness-based, experiential and somatic approach to psychotherapy.

My practice largely serves folks in the LGBTQIA+ community to address their unique needs, but all are welcome. A major focus of my work is with Complex Trauma - supporting folks who have been through subtle or not-so-subtle physical, emotional, and sexual traumas or neglect. Emphasis is placed on how one’s childhood environment can shape adulthood patterns of behavior and relationships. We can work to uncover where these patterns came from, if they are serving you now, and how to shift them if they are not. I also work with folks on the Autism Spectrum, with a focus on the challenges facing those who were diagnosed after childhood.

Are you unsure if you are on the right path in life? Do you have the sense that something needs to change but aren't clear about what to do differently? Perhaps you do know but are afraid to take the risk. Feeling adrift in life can be scary and unsettling. It can also be incredibly lonely.

I believe that the most important element in an effective therapy is a genuine connection between the patient and therapist. My approach in therapy is interactive, supportive and empathic. I view psychotherapy as a creative process and my patients as co-partners in the psychotherapeutic process.

Orion Psychotherapy’s mission is to support expressive experiences of adolescents, adults, couples, and families that facilitate meaningful discovery and intentional change. I work with a range of issues focusing on a person centered approach to the work. That means I met you where you are with techniques that match with your struggle. I am trained and believe in an approach that helps treat mental illness and develop mental health as it is its own arena of skills and understandings. I encourage my clients to spend as much effort on working with their negative and dissociative emotions as they do with their positive ones.

Jungian Therapists

How does Jungian therapy work?

Jungian therapy, also called analytical psychology, focuses on a patient’s inner experiences and unconscious mind. Exploring a person’s unconscious mind can be achieved through several means, including the analysis of memories and dreams, and through physical exercises, such as art, dance, and word association.

How long does Jungian therapy last?

Jungian therapy is an intensive treatment type. Because its goal is to understand a person as a whole, including the unconscious aspects of them, treatment can range from months to years. Since patients learn the theory behind Jungian therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have completed.

Is Jungian therapy effective?

According to studies, many patients find success with Jungian therapy, and the century-old treatment has a devoted following. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Improvements in problem areas seem to continue even after the end of Jungian therapy, as people are able to continue working on themselves using the tools they’ve learned during the treatment.

Is Jungian therapy evidence-based?

Jungian therapy is theory-based, derived from the theories of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist often called one of the fathers of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. Jung developed his theories from observing the problems of patients, and developed many theories of how the mind works. Subsequent psychological research has determined that Jungian therapy can lead to significant improvement in most patients.
