My first focus when working with a client is to develop a trusting relationship. I believe this is necessary to be able to help them to work through the problems they may encounter in their lives. Clients come to me with problems which may include feelings of depression and sadness, dealing with conflict in relationships, understanding issues of identity, coping with grief and loss and making important life decisions such as in career, education and health.

I work with clients who suffer from range of emotional problems, including difficulties with anger management, depression , anxiety, interpersonal, and family issues. I work with couples, families, children, and adult individuals. I use individual, group, and family therapy as treatment modalities. I view psychotherapy as a process whereby a client is assisted to explore, understand, and constructs his/her past experiences in more realistic and positive ways to help strengthen one's self-esteem. This process is achieved by creating a working environment of trust, acceptance and non judgment that fosters self-acceptance and emotional growth.

Whether you are struggling with depression , anxiety, trauma or experiencing a creative block, the potential for healing and moving forward is within you.
I believe each of us is born with an authentic self that guides us on our path and has the innate capacity for healing. When that authentic self is not nurtured enough by our environment, it develops defenses as protection. Patterns of behavior, ways of perceiving the world, and anxiety often result. Through our work together, I help you to integrate mind, body and spirit, strengthening your authentic self and exploring whether the defenses are still needed. I am interested in your strengths as well as your struggles, and my aim is for you to begin to feel grounded, whole and centered.

I specialize in a wide variety of issues, such as anxiety and depression , identity issues, and problematic relationships.
It is my belief that seeking help is a courageous step that should be commended. Therapy offers us an opportunity to get to know ourselves, and provides a safe and comfortable space to think about the ways we can make our lives better. In this space, we come to understand the deeper meanings of the problems we face, gain the emotional tools to solve these problems, and become more confident in the decisions we make. Therapy can help to slow life down, and helps us find a place in it that fits who we are.

I have over 30 years of experience helping people with anxiety, depression and interpersonal difficulties. Troublesome, self-defeating patterns often get in the way of realizing goals in work, in relationships, in creative endeavors and in understanding yourself. In psychotherapy we can begin to untangle the internal complications that interfere with meaningful growth, satisfying connections with others and a sense of self-worth and personal freedom.

I offer therapy to adults struggling with anxiety, depression , relationship issues, obsessive thoughts, trauma, grief, career challenges, and motherhood.
Sometimes along our journeys we learn ways of thinking and feeling that aren’t most helpful to us later on. I offer an opportunity to consider unlearning what isn’t serving us and to find new ways of thinking. Other times, we’d all just benefit from an extra layer of support; time set aside that’s all ours. Most of all, the work we do will allow you to feel some relief, comfort, connection, the opportunity to experience positive feelings, and sit with the hard ones.

I specialize in depression , anxiety, trauma and family concerns.
I enjoy helping hardworking women recover from trauma by providing the tools they need to enhance their self-esteem, improve their mood, reduce anxiety and maintain healthy boundaries in their relationships. Negative past experiences can leave you feeling guilty, ashamed, depressed and anxious. This can also leads to poor decision making at work, with our friends and even our intimate relationships. Your past does not have to define who you are or where you are headed in life. You can gain control, feel free again and live a joyful fulfilled life.

I am particularly adept at working with those who struggle to develop and maintain healthy boundaries; find themselves repeating unwanted behaviors; experience feelings of 'stuckness'; have chronic depression , and more.
Together, we can begin the process of making change. Some come to therapy to address feelings of sadness, emptiness, anxiety, or grief. Others come in the midst of or just after a major life transition that has left them feeling lost, alone, or directionless. And still others come simply wanting a better understanding of self. Whether you find yourself in transition or stagnant, overwhelmed or numb, trapped or out of control, I welcome you to my practice.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
