Psychological and emotional problems that cause depression, anxiety, excessive anger, low self confidence, guilt/shame, along with relationship and work conflicts, can actually cause more suffering than physical illnesses.
Since 2005, I have been clinical faculty of the Weill Cornell Medical College and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where I teach medical doctors courses each year on counseling skills, personality types, and evidence based talk therapy research. I help people get to the root of their problems so they can find real, lasting change and growth.

Hello! My name is Frank, and I am a dedicated and experienced therapist committed to fostering mental wellness and emotional well-being. I’d like to start by saying that I wholeheartedly believe that the strongest foundation for healing and growth rests between the relationship of a client and their therapist. When working with clients my philosophy is to provide a safe and welcoming space so that you and I can “dig-in” and work collaboratively together to overcome obstacles, challenges and sources of stress that may be currently impacting your mental wellness.

I have first hand experience as a member of the neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and kink communities, and thus have a unique ability to provide insight and support to other members of those communities. I was inspired to become a therapist because of my own experiences with therapy and a desire to help those in marginalized communities

The pathway to anger or panic can be replaced by an avenue of expression and self-assertion.
It's better if you can keep your head, remain thoughtful, know your own truth. The times are such that folks dip in and out of a rolling panic. That's bad news for your body and ultimately destructive for you and others. Whether you've survived one identifiable financial or emotional crisis or feel swamped by a diffuse negativity, there is hope for change. First you then everybody else. Once you understand your history, your nervous system, and your hormones, ease and connection come next. Put my 20 years of experience with overwhelming emotion in your back pocket. Come for three sessions, stay for a decade. Up to you.

In my studies I have focused on depression, borderline personality disorder, ADHD, self-harm, attachment disorder, substance abuse, anger management, behavioral issues, and self-esteem.
There are times in life when there doesn't seem like a way out of emotional pain. Our life histories, traumas, losses, and disappointments can run so deep that you think the only solution is to give up and stay where you are because change seems frightening. I'm confident I’m able to help you have a more joyful life, better relationships, and to create a more optimistic and exciting vision for your future. You can learn the most effective tools and recognize your strengths focusing on yourself in the now. I can teach you how to treat yourself with patience and compassion, while making a real decision to change.

I treat those who experience a wide variety of pain, which may include struggles with anxiety, depression, anger, life transitions, bereavement, relationship conflicts, trauma, and professional obstacles.
Therapy is a challenging process which requires strength and courage to seek out. For this reason, I look to tap into that strength to help individuals reach their professional and personal goals, better cope with pain, and maintain healthier relationships.

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Anger Management.
Through a curious look at what we tell ourselves - - about our ability to handle frustration, tolerate uncertainty, cope with loss, and relate to others - - it may be surprising to learn how easily we raise worried-to-panicked, annoyed-to-infuriated, and disappointed-to-devastated.

I apply treatment modalities that assist clients through childhood and adult trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, poor sense of self, adjustment and loss using strength based and evidence based practices.
Every journey toward healing is unique and the decision to seek counseling can be difficult. Healing starts with a choice and is an ongoing process. When we create a deeper, meaningful relationship with ourselves, we can better understand and gain awareness around our actions, thoughts, and behaviors. I am passionate about the work I do and understand the importance of providing a safe space, where you can be heard. We will work together to help you develop a new awareness allowing for change. We will identify existing strengths, assess presenting concerns, and explore new coping methods to replace maladaptive patterns.

I provide individualized treatment for clients with a variety of emotional and behavior problems - including depression, anxiety, anger, procrastination, school and work difficulties and trauma.
My orientation is largely psychodynamic, which means that I believe that psychological change comes from an enhanced awareness and understanding of how our past experiences influence our current expectations, perceptions and behavior. However, I am also trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and incorporate elements of this treatment approach when appropriate.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
