I have first hand experience as a member of the neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and kink communities, and thus have a unique ability to provide insight and support to other members of those communities. I was inspired to become a therapist because of my own experiences with therapy and a desire to help those in marginalized communities

Hello! My name is Frank, and I am a dedicated and experienced therapist committed to fostering mental wellness and emotional well-being. I’d like to start by saying that I wholeheartedly believe that the strongest foundation for healing and growth rests between the relationship of a client and their therapist. When working with clients my philosophy is to provide a safe and welcoming space so that you and I can “dig-in” and work collaboratively together to overcome obstacles, challenges and sources of stress that may be currently impacting your mental wellness.

I’ve helped many people who received limited or no help from previous therapists or medications. I work well with people who are skeptical of, or intimidated by, talk therapy. When you are physically ill you turn to your doctor, trusting they can effectively treat your symptoms. Psychological and emotional problems that cause depression, anxiety, excessive anger, low self confidence, guilt/shame, along with relationship and work conflicts, can actually cause more suffering than physical illnesses. I have more than 25 years of experience, and my approach to working with people is thorough, interactive, and practical.

I also have testing experience for ADHD, learning disabilities, academic performance, and dementia.
Sometimes it feels like we're moving through life on auto-pilot. With work and other stressors, it is hard to find time to slow down, to breathe, to focus on the present. I believe therapy is about letting go of the things we are trying to control and making choices towards a more fulfilling life. To facilitate this, I help clients openly face life’s challenges and create lasting changes. I offer a collaborative, non-judgmental, and safe space for my clients to facilitate behavior change and self-exploration.

You know it doesn't help your anxiety, ADHD or OCD to obsess about things out of your control or compare yourself to others.
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral, Relational and Exposure therapies to inform my treatment. With a deep understanding of how anxiety & ADHD touch every part of your social and emotional world, I offer strategies to improve focus, decrease avoidance, and free you from that loud inner critic and tendency to compare yourself to others.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
