Sometimes painful life events can damage your ability to have healthy relationships, and a fulfilling life. You don't have to be crippled by anxiety,
anger
, fear, shame, and intrusive negative thoughts. These symptoms can destroy relationships and isolate you, limiting your ability to feel safe and calm in any environment. Our goal is to help you move past these events, reclaim your life, and feel happy again.

When my clients come to see me, life experiences have caused them to lose their identity and sense of self. They experience many struggles with irritability, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and low self-esteem. My clients come from various walks of life, ages, and demographics; however, all have one thing in common- their life experiences have caused them to lose their identity and sense of self. As a result, they become victim to irritability, intrusive thoughts, and low self- esteem. Many have symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD,
anger
issues, and struggle to move through the obstacles that life has placed in their path.

Sometimes we all need a little help. None of us have life all figured out! We all have distressing thoughts and feelings we need to work through. Relationship problems,
anger
, poor boundaries, mental illness, past trauma - all of these add to daily stress. The good news is, strategies are available to reduce mental health issues, address problem thoughts, become more mindful of our strengths, and increase our capacity to change or make better decisions! Helping clients address these issues (and others) and improve well-being with a variety of evidence-based strategies, is what I do. I am grateful for the opportunity to assist!

While everyone’s journey through life is unique, we ultimately all want the same thing…We ALL want to be happy. Unfortunately, happiness doesn't always come easily. Our journey is full of challenges that we have to overcome in order to get back to being happy. We experience sadness and loss. We fall completely in love only to suffer heart break. Some of us go through traumatic events such as combat or a devastating accident. These situations and many more cause us to develop feelings of fear, sadness and frustration which we do our best to manage, but typically do so in an unhealthy and maladapted way.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
