I see how EMDR releases burdens frozen in memory.
It is tough to be happy while feeling unsafe; unresolved trauma can tell you that you are unsafe nearly all the time. EMDR addresses this problem. Clients often describe being free of a burden, one that they have been carrying for a long time. By contrast, clients of IFS often report a much deeper appreciation of themselves and of personal possibilities.

I hold additional certification in attachment-focused EMDR from the Parnell Institute.
I see therapy as a space where I can help my clients explore who they are, so they can walk through life with greater freedom. I work with adults 18 and older experiencing depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-doubt, or longer-standing pain from trauma, loss, or difficult early experiences. I also enjoy working with people who come simply for self-exploration and personal growth; and I have a special interest supporting adulthood transitions (eg. people in their 20s and 30s).

I am a certified EMDR therapist.
I received my training at NYU's Silver School of Social Work, where I built a strong foundation in psychodynamic theory. Over the last decade I've trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I use techniques from all of these modalities in order to meet each client's needs.

I'm a licensed clinical social worker with advanced training in EMDR, DBT, T-CBT and I use ACT, EFT, CPT as well as EFT and RLT for couples.
Are you having difficulty feeling secure in relationships? Do you overthink a lot? Maybe you’re someone who needs to talk right away when someone's unhappy and you won't feel better until things are solved. You get nervous when your partner asks for space. You feel responsible for making other people happy all the time, often at your own expense. You’re emotionally exhausted, stuck and ready for a change. You’re ready to feel more yourself in relationships and stop overthinking, overdoing and worrying. Most of all, you’re ready to live a more connected and fulfilling life, where your needs get met, too. I want to help you get there.

Where appropriate, I provide EMDR treatment as well.
Is something holding you back from living the life you truly want? Do you feel weighed down by anxiety, depression, or a sense of “not good enough”? You don’t have to face these challenges alone. Together, we’ll clear the blocks keeping you stuck and create a path toward joy, balance, and confidence. Taking this step is an act of self-care—and you deserve it. Since 2007, I’ve been dedicated to supporting individuals on their emotional and mental health journeys. My passion for helping others began long before my formal training and is rooted in a deep desire to guide people toward healing, growth, and empowerment.

My style is warm and curious and draw on psychodynamic frameworks, AEDP, IFS, and EMDR in my work.
The decision to begin therapy is rarely easy, but once you begin you may be surprised by the changes that unfold. Finding a therapist who helps you feel safe, supported, and challenged is central to this process. I've been fortunate to work with a wide range of people, including those dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, sexual issues, sexual and gender identity exploration, health concerns, artistic blockages, addiction, parenting, and fertility issues.

With psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness-based CBT, EMDR, and other modalities, we can work together to help you find a way toward health that feels true to you.
Octavia Butler put it very well: “hidden within change is surprise, delight, confusion, pain, discovery, loss, opportunity, and growth.” I’m here to help you shape that change, by giving you time, space, and guidance as you need, to find obstacles and ways through them—and to help you bear the pain that comes with change, as you grow into a life you can explore and enjoy. Through exploring your history and present conflicts in a secure environment, you gain insight, self-acceptance, choice instead of repetition, a voice that feels authentic, and the ability to tolerate discomfort and uncertainty.

I am trained in EMDR, Trauma Focused CBT, and as a yoga teacher.
With compassion, I meet clients where they are in their lives. I spend time getting to know my clients and their own hopes for themselves. Therapy works best when clients feel connected to the therapist and are hopeful about the goals we set together. I help clients feel positive about their lives and future, work with them to accept our humanness, and offer ways to communicate their stories, even if not with words. I hold space for clients who are adults and teens trying to love the skin they are in, parents trying to understand their kids, those with new or long-term grief, and young adults figuring out the future.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
