I work with cancer survivors and their loved ones affected by cancer. I help people who are feeling afraid, hopeless, overwhelmed, or powerless in their battle with cancer, but are also sick and tired of being sick and tired, and want to regain the energy, desire, and stamina to stand back up and forge ahead. I work with survivor's who are ready to turn their panic into their own personal power to foster new meaning and purpose in life, and to live strong with peace, hope and love.

It's difficult to take the step to ask for help. Life can be challenging for everyone at times. I am currently taking virtual clients for therapy in addition to providing clinical supervision to therapists who are working towards their licensure.

Adolescents have a special place in my heart as a therapist.
Are your relationships struggling? Are you looking to find better ways to communicate your needs? Often in relationships we forget that we have to continue getting to know one another - even if we have been together for years. Sometimes we put everyone and everything before our relationship, including our children. I work with couples and individuals navigating these life changes, who want to continue to grow in their relationships and on an individual level. Outside of my work with couples, I also work well with individuals who find themselves struggling with anxiety and depression and who want to find peace in their mind.

When I think of therapy, I see it as a chance to study one's life and patterns non-judgmentally, with the opportunity to modify things that do not help to live a life satisfactorily. It is a self-educational experience where all thoughts and feelings and the obstacles which interfere with living are cooperatively addressed. Progressive talking takes place to work through anxiety, depression, relationships, workplace stress and parenting, as well as the whole scope of emotional challenges, mild to serious. It is a form of maturation occurring at a pace amenable to the individual. Please call for more information.

After completing my Master's Degree at Syracuse University I broadened my work to include depression, anxiety, adolescents and marriage counseling.
The psychiatrist Scott Peck wrote "Life is difficult. ...but once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters." One of the guiding principles of my work is the reality that life presents challenges to all of us. Those challenges often require us to examine views we have held for many years, and work to gain a new perspective. My experience with clients has shown me that for those who seek to grow and learn more about themselves, their relationships, and their lives, there are always answers.

I am sensitive to the cultural impact being an international citizen brings when living in the US. It is through empowerment-focused and culturally aware approaches that I support my clients. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field, having served in the United States military abroad for several years before pursuing a career in mental health. As a mother of two, I am keenly aware of the weight parenthood puts on a parent and is able to support clients as they explore these life changes.

Has life thrown a curveball at you and/or your family? Or do you continuously struggle with depression and anxiety? Maybe you feel like your life is a viscous cycle of not being able to find what makes you truly happy or constantly critiquing your self-worth. Whatever the circumstances are, you want to improve your overall quality of life and effectively cope with negative life events and/or circumstances. Maybe you have suffered a significant trauma that you would like to process more in-depth or re-build parts of yourself that need to be re-discovered as a result of that trauma.

I work with individuals from all walks of life, with specialized experience supporting young adults (ages 18-26) navigate the ups and downs of college and living on their own, adults and teens with autism and ADHD who are unmasking and learning to engage authentically, and couples exploring renewed commitment or intentional separation.
Do you often feel misunderstood in your relationships? Are you struggling to feel seen? Do you feel stuck in unhealthy cycles that leave you feeling tired and depleted? You’re not alone. Together, we can explore ways to help you feel truly understood, build healthy boundaries, and develop new and lasting coping strategies. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can process whatever you’re currently experiencing. My approach focuses on the here-and-now to better understand your complex emotions. While the past influences our current behaviors, the present moment is the only place we can begin.

I've worked as a therapist for 40 years, and have, I believe, developed competence in helping adults', families', couples' and children's (10 - 18yo) needs: communication, parenting, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, family dynamics and adjustment disorders. I strive to adopt an approach that is conversational, comfortable and non - judgemental. Clients have reported feeling at ease and free to "be themselves". I employ a variety of interventions and approaches including Cognitive Behavioral (what we think determines what we feel and do), brief, family systems, structural and all others to assist most effectively.

I have over 14 years of experience helping adults, teens and families in crisis and in many normal life circumstances.
As humans we can get caught up in being human doings instead of human BEINGS. This mindset can be invalidating, robotic and cause a disconnect between our heart and our minds. We can identify these traits and shift our perspectives by allowing ourselves the time and space to feel and heal. When we are validating, compassionate and kind to ourselves we can embrace our inner desires and experience deeper connections. Then, together, we can embrace the possibility of change and hope through therapeutic discussions and professional guidance. This degree of encouragement can be exactly what you may need to find your way in your journey.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
