I commend you for taking the first steps towards starting therapy, and I am here to join you in your journey towards self-discovery and self-improvement. As a therapist I will assist you in finding and being able to utilize the tools you may already have to make changes for the better.

Restless nights. The jolt in your chest as another 3am surge of anxiety hits out of nowhere. You’re awake again, staring into the dark, already drained before the day even starts. It begins to feel like a loop; exhaustion, tension, and that quiet worry that this might just be your new normal. On the outside, you hold it together. People see you as composed, capable, the one who always handles things. But internally, your mind doesn’t slow down. The pressure builds, thoughts spiral, and it feels like you’re managing something no one else fully sees. You start asking yourself: Will I ever feel steady again? Will this ever actually

I believe that the relationship you have with your therapist means everything. You could have the most skilled therapist on the planet, and if you feel uncomfortable with them or don’t like their approach, you will not make the progress you deserve. For this reason, it is important for you to understand who I am and how I work. I am a good fit for people who need a therapist who is genuine, open, and an active participant in the conversation. I am as real as it gets and I don’t want anything other than a real relationship with you.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
