Through collaboration with parents, we work with families, children, and adolescents to tap into playfulness, creativity, and connectedness.
If you’ve ever tried to talk with your child about their feelings, they probably rolled their eyes, said “I don’t know," or simply ignored you. This is where play therapy comes in. Play therapy allows children to work through difficult emotions without feeling awkward or uncomfortable.

Whether you are seeking therapy for a child/ adolescent, an emerging/young adult, or a family, I will encourage you to explore the parts of "the self" that need addressing and understanding.
I practice multi-modal therapy, weaving relational psychodynamic psychotherapy into the concrete practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I am flexible in my approach, as I believe in being client-centered and want to meet you in your very unique and specific needs.

My ideal client feels ready for change but unsure where to begin. I get that. I’ve been there too. They may look fine on the outside yet feel anxious, disconnected, or lost inside. Many are navigating transitions, asking “Who am I?” or struggling in relationships, seeking deeper meaning and peace. Together we slow down, explore patterns, and uncover clarity through psychodynamic and mindfulness-based work. Therapy becomes a place to heal, not to perform wellness.

In times of distress and uncertainty, we value guidance leading to a better reflection of who we are and where we want to be. Sometimes the goals are not clear, but comes with a feeling that there is something missing or out of order. Psychotherapy can be enlightening from those dealing with everyday matters such as home life, work and friendships or issues surrounding anxiety, coping with important life changes. In adverse situations, it may come with overwhelming obstacles and the feeling of being misunderstood by others. These circumstances require my analytical approach and empathy to let clients feel more at ease and accepted.

Past, painful experiences are a regular part of the human experience. When those experiences are unexplored and unresolved, they can feel overwhelmingly heavy. They can also be a part of your present; informing your relationships, unhealthy habits, and influencing the way you cope with difficult situations. This can leave you feeling alone, unfulfilled, and disconnected from your life. Therapy is a place where it is safe to unpack these painful experiences and process them in a non-judgmental, compassionate environment.

The curious paradox is when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change. What I am is enough if I would only be it openly.' C.Rogers. This quote is at the core of my work as a psychotherapist. I believe that the path to healing begins with the experience of being truly seen and celebrated with all your identities and parts that make the whole of you. I offer an affirming and collaborative space for the exploration of Self, connecting to your Divine within through mind-body-spirit practices so that you can move beyond the unloving narratives getting in the way of embodying your true Self and curating the life that you envision.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
