Sometimes people find themselves thinking about going into counseling for a number of reasons such as feelings of sadness, excessive worry, sleep difficulties, irritability, low energy, loss of interest in activities, or due to problems in relationships. The decision of whether or not to start counseling and who to see, is not an easy one, and can take trial and error in finding the "right fit". I recognize that there are many options in the Buffalo/Niagara area, but I would like to offer you something different from what you may have experienced or heard about counselors in the past.

My clients come to see me seeking assistance for a wide variety of issues related to anxiety, depression, mental/physical illness, grief and loss, trauma, stress, and unexplained anger. I believe in exploring issues from a family perspective; where did you come from and how did you come to be who, and how, you are? When you struggle in your life, it can sometimes become too easy to focus solely on what is wrong, forgetting what is right. Working together, you can get back on the right path.

I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds to help them process past trauma, break unhelpful cycles, and move toward a greater sense of peace and clarity. I see my role as a guide—supporting you as you navigate your own unique path toward healing. I specialize in EMDR, an evidence-based approach that helps the brain reprocess traumatic experiences, so they no longer feel as overwhelming or stuck. In addition to evidence-based practices, I also believe in the importance of connection—bringing warmth, authenticity, and even humor into sessions when appropriate.

You are a gift. A miracle. You were born a champion! You were born and brought into this world in pure love. As we experience our life, things happen that cause us to shift from that pure love to emotional discord. As a result, we grow apart from our true self, that pure love. For some, emotional disturbances or conditions develop such as anxiety, depression, anger, negative thinking or self-doubt. I have 25 years experience working with children, adolescents and adults using traditional therapy and cutting edge non-traditional techniques that will help you get you to your goal.

Life in today’s world so often feels like it’s moving too fast. Do you ever feel worn out, frustrated, sad, or anxious? Does your mind endlessly race? Do you struggle to take time for yourself? Maybe you just need an impartial person to talk to? If you’re wrestling with these issues, now might be the right time for therapy. My time in the field has taught me everyone needs therapy at some point in their life. Some of the tools I can use to help are Dialectical Behavior Therapy (in which I've been intensively trained), the Fairytale Model/Progressive Counting (a trauma therapy), as well as just helping people examine how they think.
