I believe that each person holds within themselves everything they need to heal and grow in the ways they would like. I see the therapist's role as being one in which provides an environment of safety and care where the client can explore themselves authentically. It is through this authentic exploration, that the therapist can help the client discover how patterns and ways of being are keeping the client stuck and resulting in suffering. By bringing into awareness these aspects, the client and therapist can then work collaboratively to release the pain and explore new ways of being.

There's a version of you that felt more like yourself — lighter, steadier, less at war with your own mind. Maybe it's been a while since you've felt heard or seen. You've been carrying anxiety that never fully quiets, grief with no name, or a relationship that's wearing you thin — all while trying to look like you have it together. Maybe you've even hoped for peace and wondered why it hasn't come. You don't have to keep performing okay. Whether you're navigating depression, a hard season in your marriage, postpartum overwhelm, or questions of faith and purpose — this is a space where you can finally be honest.

You enjoy being introspective and curious about your own patterns and behavior. More than addressing symptoms, you would like to find the root of where your concerns came from so you can begin to heal at a deeper level.

You’ve been holding everything together on the outside, but inside it feels overwhelming, exhausting, and hard to manage. If you’re stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break, there’s a reason — and it’s not because you’re failing. This is often where therapy begins.

I provide cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for a variety of mental health conditions. CBT is a goal focused therapy that involves techniques like learning coping strategies, tracking thinking patterns, and changing daily routines. You might be a good fit for this type of treatment if you have a particular set of symptoms you'd like to reduce (e.g., depression, anxiety, insomnia) or if you have a specific life stressor you'd like to address (e.g., experience of physical or sexual violence, combat, exposure to trauma in the workplace). I provide therapy exclusively via telehealth because I want to make treatment easier to access.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
