My main theoretical approaches are existential, feminist, narrative, and experiential. Most often, sessions with my clients involve recounting important narratives to the client and looking at word choice when story-telling. This will often lead into a philosophical discussion about the values described in the narrative, as well as an exploration of societal, familial, and gender narratives. We often do this through talking, but we sometimes do this through a specific music listening technique called "Guided Imagery and Music" (GIM).

I am a compassionate, dedicated clinical social work intern with a commitment to helping individuals navigate life's challenges and improve mental well-being. As a breast cancer survivor, I understand the emotional and psychological toll of chronic illness. My military background further shapes my approach, giving me insight into the challenges faced by veterans and those navigating trauma, transition, and stress. I aim to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and fears, particularly those dealing with illness, trauma, or stress.

I am Solution-Focused because I believe when someone is seeking therapy, they need immediate relief from pain and suffering. I use psychoeducation to help you understand what your brain and body are doing, because I genuinely believe that knowledge gives you control, and the power to change.

The clients Darby works with are often individuals and couples who care deeply about connection but feel worn down by strain in their relationships or bodies.
Some are couples (monogamous or poly) trying to communicate more clearly, repair trust, or navigate differences without losing closeness. Some are living with chronic illness and adjusting to a body or life that no longer works the way it used to.
Others are struggling with sexual concerns that feel hard to talk about, even with someone they love.
What they want is understanding without judgment, and support that honors the complexity of their experience.
