I tend to focus on
self esteem
, as it is our lack of confidence that prevents us from overcoming our fears.
In life there are always obstacles and challenges that come our way that need to be dealt with, sometimes we know how to navigate them and sometimes we don't. If we take on the challenges there can be healing and growth, when the challenges are laid aside is when there is hindrance. It is not often easy to over come our own challenges but with support and guidance there is hope. I am here to provide that support and guidance. With insight and an open mind set, you will be amazed by how much you can achieve and overcome.

In person and telehealth openings - Every woman's goals, issues, wants, and needs are unique and specific to their individual experiences and circumstances. As a therapist who specializes in women's mental health, I have found that common goals among women include improving their mental and emotional well-being, building fulfilling relationships, and overcoming past traumas. Women may struggle with issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and past trauma. They may also want to feel heard and understood, receive practical tools to manage their mental health and well-being, and work towards tangible and achievable goals.

Along with being duly licensed, I am also certified as a Diplomat in Comprehensive Energy Psychology (DCEP), through the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology. I offer a new group of therapeutic approaches that work with the human energy system and are understood to effect the body/mind interconnection.

Your story matters. You matter. Our story is bigger than our worst moments. Our challenges do not have to define us. No one is immune to life's struggles including anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulty managing emotions, relationship issues, or struggles with self-esteem/perfectionism. We all try to do the best we can and are striving to live our best lives but sometimes overcoming personal history and trauma requires support, guidance, and self-compassion. I believe a better life is possible with the principles of strength, hope, humor, and encouragement. I would be honored to walk with you on your journey to a stronger you.

I view each client as more than a "client." They are people, like me, who want to feel valuable and lovable and to live life in a fulfilling and balanced way. In that way, we are all quite similar and there is connection and compassion in that. I have a great deal of experience and training working with all addiction issues, as well as more common struggles of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. I strive to create an equal and connection-based relationship with my clients. I also use humor and candor to help my clients progress and heal. I am also a life coach for those who are not interested in the more traditional therapies.

*I offer teletherapy to clients in California, Nevada and Colorado. I offer in-office visits in Sacramento and San Francisco when allowed by local ordinance and client comfort.* Sometimes we expect far too much from ourselves. Each client is invited into a space where there is no expectation and where they are free to be themselves, without fear of judgement or misunderstanding. Adults can sometimes struggle to find space to hold compassion for themselves. Couples (and all variants of relationship structure) can also use a nonjudgmental time and space to feel heard, while building tools for communication.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
