To unpack this, my philosophy is that psychotherapy is grounded in ultimate life decisions and values (existential), but that it involves discovery of unknown aspects of ourselves ( psychodynamic).
Searching for a therapist can be confusing. You view therapist profiles hoping for some flicker of connection with your pain or longing. "Deep calls unto deep ..." (Psalm 42:3). The last thing you need is a therapist who oversimplifies your life or has only one trick up their sleeve. I promise not to do that, to continuously listen for what you can and cannot easily put into words, and to sensitively respond. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, eating disorder, and compulsions. I also work with couples who are experiencing relational challenges. I'm willing to integrate faith into treatment.

Accepting New Clients! Have you ever been told that your emotions are "too much", that what happened to you wasn't "that bad", or that you should "just get over it"? Have past experiences prevented you from living a full, happy life in the present? Trauma has a way of sneaking into the body and mind, then reappearing in confusing, frustrating, and shameful ways. If you've been struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, overwhelming emotions, or relationship issues, you may have unresolved trauma. It can be difficult, scary, and even painful to revisit the past in order to move forward, but you don't have to do this alone.

I use evidence-based methods, such as CBT/ Trauma-Focused, or Psychodynamic approaches to address core issues.
Living in today’s world can be challenging. Many people struggle with health concerns, depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief, trauma, and suicidal thoughts while trying to balance life. Conventional medicine/medications can be highly effective at providing short-term symptom relief. Overall, I take a holistic, collaborative approach. My goal is to help you get to the root of your problems or trauma to build sustaining coping skills. I have 13+ years as a licensed therapist. I love diversity, provide therapy to adults/children, and offer education to their parents to build healthier families in a safe environment.

My approach to therapy is based on psychodynamic theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), ART, and EMDR, which allow for deeper healing than traditional talk therapy.
You’re someone who has succeeded in your career, but still find yourself questioning whether you’re an imposter, like no one else knows how bad you feel about yourself, and wondering when you’ll stop feeling the weight of guilt that is bearing down on you. Interactions with loved ones have become more difficult, and often leave you feeling irritable. But you are ready to make a change. You’re ready to let go of the guilt. You’re ready to repair your relationships. Most of all, you’re ready to be the confident person you used to be. I want to help you get there.

You may look capable and successful on the outside while privately carrying trauma, shame, anxiety, or patterns involving relationships, substances, sex, or self-criticism that no longer work. I work primarily with adults, especially LGBTQ+ adults, who want to understand what keeps them stuck and build a life that feels more grounded, connected, and genuinely their own.

I am the Clinical Director of the DeFilippo Project, a Flexible Assertive Community Treatment-style program that serves individuals with severe psychiatric illnesses, such as schizophrenia and bipolar, who have not responded to traditional 1 time a week treatment. Our program is grounded in the recovery model, emphasizing the goal of remission rather than symptom management alone, which remains the more common approach in Nevada. In addition, we provide the Midnight Hour Light program, an after-hours therapy service designed for individuals whose psychiatric symptoms worsen at night when the distractions of the day are not present.

In our first sessions, I will ask many questions, utilizing humanistic and psychodynamic methodologies, to lay the foundation upon which I will get to know you more fully.
Are you an individual or couple looking to open up your relationship for the first time? Or maybe you have identified as poly for a while, and you would like some support through a particularly challenging time. I have been coaching & counseling non-monogamous folks for nearly a decade and have identified as polyamorous since before I knew what to call it. My passion is helping poly/non-monogamous people feel seen, heard, and understood as they traverse the challenging landscape outside of the normative paradigm. Our work will focus on deep self-reflection while building strong boundaries and expansive communication skills.
